Introduction
Welcome to the Imperial Guard, the elite Guard of the noble Agatean Empire.
The purpose of this guide is to help new members of the Imperial Guard become acclimatised to their new duties, and learn about the opportunites they now have for advancement within the ranks.
To protect the interests and the citizens of the Agatean Empire's only Sea Port the Sun Emperor created a legion of crack warriors known as the Imperial Guard. These skilled, fierce and determined troops patrol the walled city of Bes Pelargic ready to stomp on the fingers of the terminally inquisitive and to reinforce the belief that to be a citizen in the Agatean Empire is to be the most fortunate of mortals.

Advancing Within the Ranks
Your level as an Imperial Guard goes up as you advance certain skills essential for your success as a Guard, known as primaries. While these skills are the most important ones for a Guard, you will probably find you need to learn others as well. The Guard will teach you a certain level in all skills, which is quite high for primaries, after which you will need to seek training elsewhere.
To manually advance a skill, you will need to have the required experience and money, and will need to be in the room with an Imperial Trainer within the Imperial Headquarters. You can check the cost of training your primaries, then advance a skill of your choosing. Detailed information for either command can be found in the help for both, and a brief summary is shown in their syntax. For a reminder of what a room can be used for see help here.

Local Information
The impressive training facilities and headquarters of the Imperial Guard are located inside the grand entrance hall of the Imperial Palace. This shining example of the graceful style and incredible wealth of the Empire is located on the east side of Bes Pelargic, at the northeast end of, fittingly, Palace Approach.
Your duty as a member of the Imperial Guard is to protect the Empire at all costs. Protecting the Empire means enforcing rules broken by non-law-abiding citizens and foreign devils, ensuring that the streets are safe for venerable-ancestors-who-are-still-with-us and making sure that everyone knows that the Empire is the most enlightened, sophisticated, honourable and impressive civilisation in the world.
The Empire, as the only civilised continent of the world, has much to offer any citizen - that is why, is it not, that citizens of the Empire are the most fortunate in the world? Bes Pelargic has much to keep the most rigid rule-keeper occupied with, as foreign devils come to beg to trade with our lowest merchants for our cast-off goods. Which, by the way, are far superior to anything found outside the Empire.
Members of the Imperial Guard who find themselves trapped, possibly by jealous foreign devils, should remember that help from your fairy godmother is never too far away.
