Blackie
Blackie May 1985 - May 2000
Blackie was a Rough Collie X Labrador (we think) and was born in May 1985. He was with us from 8 weeks old and he was originally my dog, as at the tender age of 11 I pestered my Dad to get me a dog until he finally walked in with this bundle of fluff.
Over time though he became a much loved family pet, and when I finally moved out I left him with my parents as my Mum couldn't bear to part with him (she'll deny that of course.) His favorite pass time in his younger days was his Houdini trick. No matter how hard we tried to keep him in, he would always manage to get out (you wouldn't believe how high that dog could jump!) He always came home after awhile though with a very satisfied look on his face and on one occasion he even brought a friend home with him.....The biggest Rottweiler you can imagine! It turns out that the dog warden had been chasing the pair of them up the A52 until they ended up back at our house lol. Sadly though, Blackie died on the 13th of May 2000 aged 15; and despite all his (mis-) adventures, we still miss him very much. He was a unique character who will always be fondly remembered.
Sleep in peace Black dog, Saturday lunch times have never been the same without you xx
