Helên's Biography

Helên Thomas has been writing poetry and songs for as long as she can remember and appears regularly on the UK poetry circuit.

Her first taste of poetic success came in 1985 when she won a runner-up prize in 'She' Magazine's National Poetry Competition with 'Ode To Bad Poetry'.

As part of Lancaster University's Revue group Helên was involved in writing, performing and staging shows, including the annual Revue show at The Nuffield Theatre, which was subsequently performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1989 and 1990.

"Look out for the poems on domestic items which are beautifully timed." (The List)

Over the past few years Helên has made a name for herself as a performance poet who is both versatile and original. She has organised events both as 'Poetry Link Organiser' for The Lymm Festival in 1999 and as part of Hot Wire Events along with Jo Warburton.
