Coaching

A typical coaching programme



A typical coaching programme runs for about 12 months. We do sometimes work with clients, (those who are receiving the coaching) for six-month periods and this can work well if the client is content with this and the objectives are consistent with this rather short time-period. During coaching programmes all our clients have unlimited access to their coach. Every coaching programme is tailor-made for each client by the coach and usually takes place in a quiet, closed space in the client's office where there will be no interruptions.

A typical coaching programme is as follows ;-
  1. An initial meeting with the person paying the bill (the sponsor) to establish what overall objectives there might be from his or her perspective.
  2. An initial meeting with the client to see if coach and client get on together and to explore what the objectives of the programme might be.
  3. Second meeting with the client to learn about the client's situation and define the objectives carefully. At this point the programme is clearly running and the fee becomes due.
  4. Regular meetings often with phone conversations in between to progress towards the objectives, measure and celebrate progress and figure out ways round or over obstacles that appear.
  5. Occasional three-way review meetings with the programme sponsor if the client agrees. Final meeting to draw all the threads of the programme together and to assess results.

Throughout the process the client is encouraged to give and seek feedback about his or her progress from key people within the organisation. Since absolute confidentiality between coach and client is a keystone to the success of the whole process, coaches individually do not report on clients. 360 degree assessments are sometimes used before and after a programme to measure change.

Frequently coaches are requested to assist by working with teams and committees to help them perform better and this is a normal extension of our work which is quoted for on an individual basis.
