OK, so I went a got a Garmin eTrex GPS receiver, brilliant piece of kit. Went hunting the net for waypoint files, lots of good stuff out there, but not complete LPG station list. So I made one, well to be more accurate I wrote some software to pull the post-codes from the LPGA page and use MapBlast to decode them into Lat/Long figures. The result looks something like this -

As you can see there's plenty to go at ! This is over 550 stations, and the software being used to display them is GPS Track Maker. As my eTrex will only store 500 waypoints I load this full file in and crop out the areas that I'm not likely to visit at the moment, then transfer the remaining ones to my receiver. This allows me to use the 'nearest' feature to find a LPG station as I'm on the move, currently there's one 2.2 miles North-East from here ..

In order to transfer the data to the Garmin receivers you need to have a PC data cable, which can be purchased from Garmin (lots of money!) or can be built yourself for very little cost. As the connectors used are proprietary to Garmin this would seem to present a problem, until you visit pFranc who runs the Purple Computing open hardware project. You can get 2 connectors for £15 from them .. they have representatives in most countries. Nice on eh ? :)

Here are the files anyway ..
