Beth Noblebeth

I came to Nottingham in 1990 as a student and have never managed to get out. I joined Wholesome Fish, a rabble of riotous folky musicians when I was 19. After many happy drunken years touring, and having had a baby, I decided it was time to straighten up and get a proper job. In the meantime I kept my hand in, playing on recordings and occasionally live for a few lovely folk like David Longden, Cathy Lesurf and Siobhan Lynch.

I met Simon by chance at a music project in Lincolnshire in September 2004. Having been through most of the other fiddlers in Nottingham, he asked me to have a go at playing his stuff. I could just about manage it (at the second or third attempt) and was asked to become a fixture of the current line up.

I regularly play with the Fish who reformed in April 2005 after several years of rest and rehabilitation. I am also currently playing fiddle on a project with Manushi Dance Company and recording again with David Longden and Blue Swan. By day I work as an Arts Officer for Nottinghamshire County Council.
