Dolores Gray was born Dolores Gray in 1924, age 0, to a tobacconist and a donkey handler. Her first role was in many ways the one which was most challenging to her, playing as she did herself. Her next role was playing a man, which was obviously just too radical, as it was then back to playing herself again. Five years later she retired, aged 33, before dying.

She briefly came out of retirement in 1994 to play herself.
