Declan Mulholland was born in 1932 and went on to be fat and have an impressive career in films and (to a lesser extent) television, playing fat blokes for many years.

Mulholland's many varied acting roles down the years pay testament to his popularity, winning the parts of "Poacher", "Kidnapper Joe", "Rubberface Doorman" and even "Meths Drinker". Had Mulholland been available for further film roles when the parts of "Fat Bastard Nobody Likes" and "Old Git With A Face Like A Smacked Arse" came along, he'd probably have snapped them up as well.

Mulholland kicked off his TV career in "Doctor Who" of course, playing both Till the ugly fat hunchback in "The Androids of Tara" and of course Fat Bloke in Sea Fort in "The Sea Devils". He continued to have roles in the like of "Casualty" and "Lovejoy" right up until his death in 1999.

But perhaps the most impressive part that Declan Mulholland courted slipped right through his fat fingers. He was chosen by George Lucas to play Jabba The Hutt in the original Star Wars when they couldn't afford to use computer graphics, and test footage of Mulholland still exists (and appeared as an extra on the video release of the Star Wars trilogy in 1996). Tragically however, Mulholland's scenes were cut for timing reasons and he missed out on millions of pounds of royalties. However, his luck seemed to be back in when said cinematic re-issue of the films in '96 was mooted to feature cut footage and extended scenes, in short a 'special edition' version. Lucas put back Mulholland's scenes, but, alas, by now could afford to do them properly so replaced him with a computer sprite (like in the last two films) and Mulholland still got no money.

Life's a bitch really. But he was still the noblest Fat Bloke in Sea Fort there ever was.
