Baby Sign with Jenny
An introduction to "Baby signing"

Why wait to communicate? Babies can tell you what they want, long before they can talk! Just watching babies signing you can see how much pleasure they get from it. Teaching signing is based on love, patience and gentle persuasion. It is taught by simple repetition in everyday situations, often with a good helping of laughter.

"Baby Sign with Jenny" workshops offer parents and carers of babies an introduction to and support in using the baby sign language based on Joseph Garcia's award winning SIGN with your BABY™ programme which uses American and British Sign Language. The introductory workshop allows participants to see baby signing in action by way of a promotional video.

Two television news articles featuring "Sign with Sarah" - BBC Breakfast news broadcast on March 5th 2003 and Meridian Tonight broadcast May 7th 2003 can be viewed at workshops. Both articles focus on Baby Signing with regard to child development. An introduction is given to the complete SIGN with your BABY™ pack at workshops. This pack includes a UK formatted video giving comprehensive instructions from author Joseph Garcia, an instruction book and a British Sign language book and achievement chart.

When babies can express themselves and be understood, frustration is reduced and therefore a happier, stronger bond is formed.

It is a special opportunity to be a part of your baby's world and raises the baby's self-esteem. Babies realise that communication is a two-way process which leads to earlier mutual understanding.

Language development is further improved because as you make the signs to your baby, you are more consistent with the verbal language that you use to reinforce the sign. This consistency in language use reinforces some basic words which usually results in the infant using and understanding these words in speech earlier on in life than in non-signing babies.
