Comet Holmes - Widefield
Date: 11th Nov 2007 Equipment:: Canon 400D, 200mm lens @ f4.5, piggy back on Celestron Nexstar. Exposure: 12 x 30sec subs, ISO800, total 6mins. Processing: Stacked in DeepSkyStacker, Postprocessing in PixInsight Core 1.1 Comments: This was as large in the sky as the full moon and easily visible with the naked eye, even from in town. It started life as a very small mundane object and then flared up to approximately the diameter of the sun within a few days...a very spectacular event. For a while it was the largest object in the solar system. Credits: Many thanks to Bill Scott for loan of his Celestron Nexstar telescope. |
