Love
Love
LOVE was conceived in mid-winter and was celebrated by gathering cyclamen flowers and daisies from my garden, and forget-me-nots and primroses as March came in. The flowers were pressed for a week or two in the Yellow Pages and laid on to the wet paper I made in my kitchen and hung to dry on the washing line between showers of sleet. The images of the prints were cut into blocks of lino and printed on to the paper with water-based ink that produced a more delicate and painterly effect than the solid black of oil-based ink. The prints are fragile; none of the lino blocks have straight edges, not does any of the paper, but I enjoyed that and hope you do too.
I have included 7 prints produced in a creative flight over a few days. I complained to my husband during this time that I couldn't sleep.
"Navigate by the stars," he said, and went to sleep.
These prints are for people who navigate by the stars.
