The class society within the club is becoming more obvious these days with the affluent high wage earners taking B&B, the middle classes in caravans and the student scum in tents. Mat B managed to lure Jo into his tent, no resistive screaming was heard and Jo returned for a second night on Saturday.

Saturdays paddle was Mateg to Town falls, but a large tempest whipped up and almost lead to complete abandonment with some of the less hardy lead by Mark R going to the local swimming pool. Water levels were surprisingly low considering the amount of water being blasted at us from the skies. The paddle was actually sheltered and jolly, but at one point we found TD paddling all by himself as his group had run off without him.

Town falls was more of a challenge in the low levels due to the exposed rocks. River right (RR) route was boney and RL had a stopper at the bottom of it. The groups bunched up as we considered our options. I took the RR followed by TD and Laura who came close to getting a large mangling. We decided to send the others down the easy fish ladder. The next group was lead by "Little Bri" (named in the showers) who showed us how easy RL route was. Frog-Sheep(Roll) and John Board(Swim) took the same route demonstrating how to get wedged in the stopper at the bottom of it.

Saturday night was great, the pub had live entertainment with 4 sturdy middle-aged women singers called "The Cover Girls". They sang popular songs to which we joined in and danced. For some reason they picked on me to stand at the front and sing "Delilah" while they made up my backing singers. The crowd was very entertained, but the girls in the audience kept their knickers on (thank god as I know how little washing happens on these weekends). A small scuffle broke out when Chris (who had been plying Jo with lots of cider to weaken her defences) had his prime seat next to her stolen by Andy. Chris was clearly upset and Jo had to buy her own drink for the rest of the evening.

We later carried on with our own singing. The pub kept serving well past closing time until it was eventually shut down by the police at 1.30

Sunday still with the words of "Delilah" ringing in our heads, we took on the Gorge section above the Marteg. Great fun was had by all Mat S swimming on a flat section between rapids. There was one tricky slot and drop that Bateson the lead paddler decided to stop and inspect. However, Jo(novice) clearly had a lot of ambition and paddled straight past him and shooting it backwards (actually she missed the breakout!!).

Wow another great trip, sorry if I've not not managed to insult anyone on this write up and I'll try and get you on the next one.
