Cleckheaton Rotaract continue to work for the community, raising funds, helping where possible, and making a difference.

You can find out more about some of the projects we are currently undertaking below, or contact us for more information.
Launched in March 1999, the FULL STOP Campaign is already significantly increasing public awareness of the issues surrounding child abuse. With your help, we can build up the momentum needed to change public attitudes permanently and bring about positive action in the years to come.

Cleckheaton Mile of Coins Project
The Cleckheaton Mile of Coins Project took place recently at The White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds. Members of Cleckheaton Rotaract, with help from Rotary laid £1000 out in pennies and two-penny pieces in order to publicise the cause of the Candlelighters and help raise money.

The Candlelighters are a group of parents of children treated at the Yorkshire paediatric oncology and haematology Unit at St. James's Hospital in Leeds who are suffering from malignant diseases or severe blood diseases.

Supported by relatives, friends, medical and nursing staff they are dedicated to combatting childhood cancer, leukaemia and serious blood disorders and to making the lives of the children and their families more bearable.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
A new initiative started in 2001 was to support the Royal British Legion both in their annual Poppy Appeal whilst also working alongside the RBL to hold "Tea Dance's" for the older generation.

In the last three years, Cleckheaton Rotaract Club have raised well over £1500 for the Royal British Legion and hopes to continue to do so. If you want to support Cleckheaton Rotaract in this event, send us an email by clicking here.
The Aquabox Appeal
Disasters come in many forms - earthquake, cyclone, flood, refugee displacement - but all share a common factor. The most urgent single problem facing the relief agencies is the provision of a supply of safe drinking water.

Aquabox is an official project of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland and once in its destination region can be used to purify up to 1100 litres of pollute water making it safe and pleasant to drink.
