Bryn is  the Dog World/Royal Canin TOP STUD DOG  for 2007! (with just 3 offspring in the ring in the UK). Sire of:
Ch. Zordia's Jawara
Ch. Zordia's Indiana Jones

Am. Ch. AB Come See About Me
Ir. Ch. Zordia's Shooting Star over Mossbawnhill
Am. Ch. Tammen's Take Me On
Am. Ch. Tammen's Tri n'Top This

and several other pointed/RCC winning kids.

Bryn is the first black and white UK champion for ten years, and only the sixth in the history of the breed here. He is also the only American bred male to finish his title here in the UK.

I have wanted a black and white Basenji for years, and the idea of Bryn was born when I first saw his dam and four of his champion half-siblings on the video of the 2001 Basenji Club of America National Specialty. It was reinforced when I travelled to the US in 2002 and saw three of them in person, and five of their year younger full siblings from their dam's second litter, and was deeply  impressed with their overall quality. It began to seem like a possibility when Kalema was confirmed in whelp with her third litter, and then came even closer when the UK Government kept their promise and extended the Pet Passport scheme to the US. I was so excited to get the email from his co-breeder, Wanda Pooley, that the pups had arrived, and that among them was a beautifully marked BW male. The photos soon started to arrive, and I was able to watch him mature from a stunning puppy into a young male to be proud of.

Bryn's dam 'Kalema' is one of the top producers in the US today; from her first two litters (by Am Ch Jerlin's General Patton) she is dam of nine American champions, with Bryn the first from her third litter to achieve his title. His littermates, AB-SS Follow the Money and AB-SS Worth Every Cent have now finished their titles, to give their dam a total of twelve US champions (five of them black) in addition to Bryn's English title; one more has both majors. 'MacGyver' is to date the sire of 23 champions, putting him well up on the stud dog honour roll.

Bryn was not seriously campaigned in the US, as we felt he was not physically or mentally ready and anyway the main aim was the English title. However, he won most of his classes, took his first BOB at 9 months and made the cut in the Group. I had the privilege to handle him on his last US outing at Chicago Goldcoast KC on 26th October 2003, where he took a major reserve to a new champion.
He arrived in the UK in October 2003, and made his UK Championship debut at LKA in December; he won his crown 18 months later at a memorable Blackpool show, and now holds the joint record for his colour and gender.
He has two BIS, one RBIS and two RBD at breed club specialty open shows, all under breeder judges. He has attended very few all-breed open shows, but has two Group wins and one Group 4, all from hound specialists.

Bryn's first three offspring to be hip scored have received OFA Good and Excellent and BVA 2:2 respectively. He carries both red and tri genes. He is already making a great contribution to the breed in the UK, with his CORRECT angulation and construction, super movement and his 'long' pedigree. Just as importantly, he has an extremely laid-back, un-snarky temperament that doesn't know what a lip curl is (except for the benefit of other male Basenjis!)  and is a pleasure to live with. His first grandchildren will hit the ring in 2007!

*As Bryn has tested PROBABLY CARRIER FOR FANCONI SYNDROME via DNA marker, as of August 2007 he will only be available to bitches who have been tested PROBABLY CLEAR/NORMAL via the same test*. This will ensure that no Fanconi affected puppies are produced whilst still enabling this exceptional stud dog to do what we already know he can to improve our breed.

My heartfelt thanks go to Wanda for taking such wonderful care in his rearing and training , and putting up with my fussing for so many months! It takes a special kind of person to raise and train a dog as part of the family for ten months when it is known from the first that he will be leaving, but what a wonderful job she has made of it, and I am so thrilled to own this magnificent boy.
