What is a tenants and residents association?

A tenants and residents association (T/RA) is a group of people on council estates who get together to do something about our homes and the area we live in. Both council tenants and people who have bought council houses can be members.

Why set up a tenants and residents association?

It is hard to change things by yourself - but by getting together in an association you have a stronger voice. You can really make a difference.

There are over 100 tenants and residents associations in Kirklees. They have the right to take part in council decisions about their homes and communities.

Many tenants and residents associations have brought about big improvements to their estates by getting together and getting things done. Tenants and residents have the right to be involved in the way our homes and estates are run. We live here so we know what needs to be done. By forming an association you can have a say in what happens on your estate.
