October 10th: Activ Records will release a dance version of "Fuck Off" in the UK in December. Mixes are by "Jewels and Stone" & "Sleazesisters". Activ have the rights for release throughout the world and are looking at releasing the track in as many places as possible. More news as I get it.

October 19th: Jayne will be performing with Eliot Michaels & Mark Bell (Marky Ramone) at a party to launch the book "High On Rebellion" by Yvonne Ruskin. The book features Wayne/Jayne along with Cherry Vanilla, Johnny Thunders, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Blondie and loads more. The band will be billed as "Tribute to Wayne County & The Original Backstreet Boys" and will perform songs that never got recorded such as "Queenage Baby", "Stick It In Me", "Rock and Roll Enema" & "It Takes A Man Like Me To Find A Woman Like Me".

Although Jayne didn't play at the launch the Backstreet Boys tribute/reunion is still planned (see October 19th for further details).

November 11th: The "Fuck Off" single has been delayed. This is to allow it to receive as good exposure as possible by DJs over the Christmas party season and to avoid it getting "lost" at Christmas when new releases are largely ignored.

November 11th: Jayne has been filming for a UK TV show called "Rock 'N' Roll Babylon". The show contains an interview and some footage. I don't have an exact date for transmission as yet but possibles are 11th, 12th or 19th December on Channel 4.

January 11th: Jayne will NOT be appearing at the Max's night at Don Hill's on January 20th as was previously reported on this site. Unfortunately the date of the show was changed and as a result Jayne can't appear. Apologies for any confusion.

February 10th: Warren Heighway and Veronica Kofman (who wrote "Poison Heart : Surviving the Ramones" with Dee Dee) are putting together a book of "rock 'n' roll Wayne/Jayne County stories". If you've an interesting tale to tell write to Warren at Trace Element Corporation, P.O. Box 51, Worsley, Manchester, M28 5DL, England. Any photos of Wayne/Jayne would also be appreciated - make sure you have a copy though as return of them can't be guaranteed.

February 10th: Warren also tells me that Jayne has been working on some new material in L.A. No news on a release as yet.

February 11th: Jayne will be performing and DJing on the West coast of the US in March including an appearance at Club Cherry in L.A. on March 2nd.

February 17th: Jayne got two mentions on the UK documentary "Walk On The Wild Side" which aired tonight. The show looked at "gender confusion in rock 'n' roll". Ray Davies (Kinks) mentioned how she turned up to a Kinks show along with Holly Woodlawn & Candy Darling. Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes To Hollywood) told of how he and his friends were fascinated by this "exotic creature" when Jayne played Eric's (a club in Liverpool). A couple of still pictures of Jayne accompanied the comments.

February 22nd: "F**k Off" was released today.

April 18th: A new boxed set of punk tracks is released by Universal Music tomorrow entitled "1,2,3,4". The box contains five compact discs featuring one track each by a vast array of punk acts. It also includes a booklet containing information about each of the artists featured. The Electric Chairs "Fuck Off" is included.

May 27th:Jayne is still DJing at Life in New York. Hopefully the new versions of "Fuck Off" will soon get a release in the US on Royalty Records. Activ in the UK are considering a further single also. More news as I get it.

June 6th:Royalty Records will release "F**k off" in the US on August 13th. The plan is to include an acapella version to enable a remix contest with the winning remix version being included on the next single. What that next single would be is undecided but it could possibly be a remix of "Cherry Bomb".

September 5th:Jayne is mentioned in the credits on the poster to the film "Born To Lose, The Last Rock 'N' Roll Movie" (a tribute to Johnny Thunders and the New York Dolls).

September 21st:Jayne is No.5 in the Billboard Sales Breakout chart with "F**k Off 2000". This is Jayne's first ever chart appearance in Billboard.

August 23rd: Jayne is mentioned in this weeks New Musical Express in the U.K. In a feature about the Reading rock festival she is credited as having been responsible for the start of the missile-throwing tradition at the festival. Nice to see Jayne included in this along with a picture.

September 19th: In the latest issue U.K. magazine Mojo includes "Fuck Off" at No.54 in their all time Top 100 Punk Records. There's a little write up and a pic of the German "Fuck Off" sleeve.

22nd February: Warren Heighway informs me that The Johnny Thunders tribute CD "I Only Wrote This Song For You" is presently being prepared for reissue. Extra tracks by artists such as Marc Almond & The Strokes are rumoured. The track featuring Jayne "Help The Homeless" is possibly to be released as a single backed by a Jayne version of "Lookin For A Kiss". Proceeds from this would go to the charity Centrepoint.

22nd February: Warren is currently looking to re-mix and re-package further Jayne product. He would more than welcome offers of collaborations from established producers. If you're interested contact him via the "Mail Me" link on the site.

22nd February: Starting soon unreleased Jayne mixes will be made available to download from the site for a limited period of one month each. This will take the form of a track each month. Watch this space for further details or join the mailing list for updates and notification of new tracks being uploaded.

23rd February: A Jayne "Live At Squeezebox" CD will be available soon. This will probably be an internet only release. More details as I get them.

17th March: Apparently Jayne may be recording a cover version of "Paint It Black" with the band Church Of Betty. She has performed this with them previously. If I get details of a release I'll update. Jayne is also to appear at the release party for their new CD “Tripping With Wanda” on Wednesday April 3rd at The Bottom Line in New York.

17th March: Rupert Smith tells me that Jayne has a new evening look of black hair & black Cleopatra eye make-up. No pics to display of this yet I'm afraid.

17th March: More recording news: A new Jayne rock single is being planned featuring two tracks, one of which looks likely to be "Queenage Baby" the never recorded/released Mainman era song. More details as I get them.

Thanks to Tim at Punk Aid for these details.

24th March: Last night saw the broadcast on BBC Radio2 in the UK of part one of a documentary on punk in the USA. Part two is on next Saturday (30th) at 8pm to 9pm and covers the years 1970 to 1978. I'm not sure if Jayne will be included but give it a listen. You can listen online at http://www.bbc.co.uk . The presenter is Craig Leon so if anyone out there fancies dropping the BBC a line re Jayne try the e-mail address: radio2.enquiries@bbc.co.uk . Help make sure that the BBC give Jayne the credit she's due.

24th March: As mentioned on the messageboard there is a lot of effort being made at present to get Jayne over to the UK to play and also to raise her profile. Anything people can do to raise Jayne's profile would help. The NME site at www.nme.com has messageboards if you click on the "Interact" link. I've posted something on there regarding how Jayne deserves a higher profile in the history of the punk scene. If other people wish to do the same they may help to do something to correct this oversight. If you do nothing else just post a reply agreeing with my post - it gets the figures up on their site! The best boards to post on are probably "Angst" and the dedicated "Punk" board. Thanks for your support.

26th March: More news on the Church Of Betty CD release party on April 3rd at The Bottom Line in New York. There are two shows (7:30 & 10:30) and Jayne will perform "Paint It Black". Tickets are $15. See Church Of Betty site for further information.

5th April: The UK press seem to be recognising Jayne's talents at present. This month she is featured in an article about CBGB's in Q magazine, an article about the greatest rock excess stories in Bizarre magazine and she also got a mention in an article about Sting and the Police in Uncut magazine last month. Nice to see her getting some recognition.

17th April: "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" by Wayne County is featured on the new compilation CD "CBGB's & THE BIRTH OF U.S. PUNK" which has just been released in the UK. See "Albums" page for further details.

21st April: Jayne's new live CD "Wash Me In The Blood (Of Rock 'N' Roll)" is now available to order from the Fang Records website. This was recorded at Squeezebox on Jayne's birthday (14th July) in 2000.

21st April: Chris from Church Of Betty/Fang Records informs me that Jayne has recorded "Paint It Black" with him. It features sitar, tabla and a big rock sound. The plan is to do 3 different dance mixes too and release all 4 versions on a disc later this year. More news as I get it.

6th June: Jayne will be out and about at various events over the next few weeks. Jayne will host a semi regular event at CBGBs called homocorps, on Saturday June 8th. It's queer punk oriented acts, including The Velvet Mafia, Verona Boy, Avenue D ,Morplay, and Johnny Mcgovern is the gay pimp. On Wednesday, June 12th Jayne will host a benefit for the Joey Ramone Lymphoma fund at Don Hill's in Manhattan. It's a party to celebrate the release of the new Ramones tribute CD issued by Radical Records in Manhattan. Bearing in mind the sad announcement today of the death of Dee Dee Ramone I'd check details on this over the next few days if you're thinking of attending. Jayne will also be involved in a monthly 'Fun with Dick and Jayne' night at Manitoba's in downtown Manhattan, owned by Dick Manitoba himself. Check the venue for details.

9th June: The Glammy Awards took place on 2nd June and Jayne received her Living Legend Award. Janet Planet has kindly supplied photos of the event. Click here and here to view.

25th August: Jayne is apparently going to be teaming up with Lisa Jackson (a trannie acoustic artist) for a two girl show which they have already test ran with great results.

19th September: There have been rumours of UK shows in November circulating recently. These shows are not happening and were never actually confirmed. Jayne had not agreed to these shows so it's certainly not a case of Jayne letting anyone down. As for the venues concerned I believe they were acting in good faith too so hopefully nobody will lay the blame at their door either. The best explanation I can give is that there was a breakdown in communications. I'm told Jayne does plan to visit the UK in the not too distant future but as I've said before don't believe any rumours until you've had confirmation of shows via this site.

23rd September: Jayne has been doing shows around NYC with another rock & roll trannie from Georgia called Lisa Jackson. They have been performing as G.O.T. (Girls On Top). The shows are apparently very trashy and very funny, with Lisa as the "straight" one and Jayne providing the comedy. Jayne's also been DJing and performing at Manitoba's, the bar owned by Dick Manitoba.

23rd September: Jayne has been working again with Eliot Michaels from the Backstreet Boys/Electric Chairs. They plan to go into the studio to record some really filthy rock & roll including a recording of "Queenage Baby". A show is also being planned as Jayne County & the Electric Chairs feat Eliot Michaels, at Don Hills.

23rd September: A documentary by Dean Lance largely about Jayne's life, "Down There: Aesthetics and Sexuality on the Lower East Side", has been shown a few times on cable stations in Manhattan recently (primarily Manhattan Neighborhood Network) and is apparently due for transmission on PBS. The documentary is a re-edit of a larger piece which Dean is working on entitled "Stick It In Me! (You Are Entering Jayne County)".

29th September: The show planned at Don Hills in New York with Eliot Michaels will take place on November 22nd.

29th September: Jayne tells me she will be playing in the U.K. in March 2003. No dates as yet but watch this space.

Thanks to Warren Heighway and Rupert Smith for help with the above information.
