After the disappointment of the cancellation of the London show a week earlier due to "poor ticket sales" it was good to see a decent attendance for Jayne's Manchester show. A rough estimate would guess at about 300 people witnessing a great Jayne performance.

Jayne took to the stage at a quarter past midnight and turned in a powerful performance for 70 minutes despite fighting against the heat of the venue. From the opening chords of "Night Time" Jayne took us on a trip through old and new favourites. Arriving onstage with her usual carrier bags containing those all important costume changes she began with a silky black three piece ensemble before changing into a pink number with white frills and later a full length red silky dressing gown.

Jayne was obviously in an obliging mood as when a heckler requested "Show us your tits" she obliged by displaying her right breast to the audiences delight. As Jayne put it "Ask and ye shall receive". The line was drawn at a request for a blow-job however. "You got to pay for that honey" was the response from Miss County. As ever audience participation was an important part of the show with Jayne's wicked sense of humour leading her to compare various audience members with Boy George, Marilyn, someone from Metallica/W.A.S.P. and Pamela Anderson with a breast reduction! All of it was given and taken in good fun including her retort to a persistant heckler "I hope your cock's as big as your mouth is".

The venue was hot and by mid show the make-up was more Alice Cooper than Marilyn Monroe. Fortunately good grooming is not of prime importance to Jayne - the torn tights and white knickers give that away.

As the set drew to a close the only place to rest was in the bass drum so it was there that Jayne lay her weary head as the beat pounded on. As the band played on she left the stage on her hands and knees and crawled all the way to the dressing room. The applause rang out and the show was over. Until next time of course.
