Keep Smiling
Prevention is the ideal treatment. Regular visits to monitor your dental health
combined with individual oral hygiene advice, scaling, cleaning and polishing
can help you maintain healthy teeth and gums. We stock a range of oral health
products to enable you to follow our dentists and oral health educators advice.
Dentures
Dentures are often provided for patients with several or all of
their teeth missing. There are many possible types of dentures - discuss with
your dentist which would be best for you.
Crowns
Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth
which have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling.
The crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and
giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth. Crowns are also known as
'caps'.
Bridges
A bridge is a permanent fixture in your mouth used to replace a missing tooth or
teeth. It is used as an alternative to a denture. You have to wait at least 6
months from when the tooth was extracted before a bridge can be fitted. A bridge
is made by fixing a porcelain “false” tooth to crowns or metal wings on teeth
either side of the gap. There are many possible designs of bridge - discuss with
your dentist which would be best for you.
Veneers
A veneer is a facing on the front of your teeth usually your top teeth, it is
just like a false finger nail. Veneers are made out of porcelain and are used
mainly for aesthetic reasons such as to cover mildly discoloured enamel or to
close small gaps between teeth.
Sedation
Dental
Treatment without the worry.
Sedation is a small injection in the back of your hand with which a relaxing
agent is placed. This makes you feel relaxed and light headed, you do not
completely go to sleep, but are relaxed enough to let us carry out the dental
treatment required.
Dental
treatment under relative analgesia "Happy Air". Many people are anxious about
having dental treatment, however, to make it easier for them "Happy Air" can be
used.
What is "Happy
Air" ? It is a special kind of air which helps to make dental treatment easier
for you. It is breathed in through a special nose piece. The air might make you
feel a little dreamy and a bit floaty, but, you will NOT be asleep. Some people
have a nice warm tingly feeling and their hands and feet, making them very
comfortable. Remember, you will always be able to talk to the dentist and let
them know how you are feeling. At the end of the treatment the "Happy Air" will
be stopped. When you feel normal again, usually within 5 - 10 minutes, you will
be allowed to go home. You should not feel any after effects from the "Happy
Air" once you have left the dental surgery.
All children
under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Tell the dentist of
any change to your health or medication. If you are unable to keep your
appointment, please let the practice know as soon as possible.
