How to... use MPEG Mediator 1.5

Sadly MPEG Mediator 1.5 is no more..... It's creator Arno HORNBERGER decided to remove support and take down his web site in early 2004.

It will be sadly missed.... But all is not lost because you can still download his application here (128KB 7-Zip file).

MPEG Mediator is a front-end GUI (similar in looks to DVD2AVI), which allows you to import MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 audio/video files and generate MPEG-4 files (and others) with MP3 audio, within the .AVI container.

Assumptions

OK, before we start I'm afraid I'm going to have to make the following assumptions: -

*    That you know how to extract MPEG-2/.VOB streams from DVD's or MPEG-1 streams from VCD's.

Using tools such as: DVDdecrypter and VCDgear

*    That you know how to install, VFW MPEG-4 codecs (and others).

Such as: XviD, DivX, 3ivx, FFmpeg. Or even VP6 and WMV9 VCM.

Step 01:

To "Import" your source files click on the "File" tab and select "Open". After doing this, a new "Open File(s) as stream" box will appear. Simply navigate to the files you would like to encode (.VOB in this case) and click the "Add" button. Keep repeating the process to add many files as you want (but make sure they are in numerical order).

When you're happy press "OK".

If you wish, you can check your "imported" files properties by clicking the "File" tab and selecting "Properties..."

 To be continued.......

And if you are interested....

The source code for MPEG Mediator 1.5 can be found here (100KB 7-Zip file). And the source code for the OpenDMLAVI Output can be found here (49KB 7-Zip file)

Also, a guy called Nicolas POHLMANN continued working on MPEG Mediator for a few months and went on to develop an application called MPEG Mediator Special Edition. Which can be found here (296KB 7-Zip file).
