Introduction
The
image to the right is a snapshot of an interactive 3D
model of the Roton C-9 reusable space vehicle, which up until mid-2000 was
being developed by the Rotary Rocket Company of Mojave,
California.
Unfortunately, funding stopped at the approach-and-landing demonstrator
phase of the project, and the company is now in mothballs. Unless some
serious money appears from somewhere unexpected, it looks like Rotary is
effectively dead. So, it looks like this model is the nearest you will
ever get to flying one of these cool machines.
Within the model, you can can use the control panel to
walk around the the Roton launch pad (click and drag the
controls to move). You can also interact with the Roton
using the yellow arrows - click on them to activate
mechanisms on the spacecraft.
Alternatively, just click on the launch arrow and sit
back for a demonstration of the Roton placing a satellite
into orbit.
If you already have Superscape's Viscape Universal
plugin (version 5.60), click on the image to get
interactive!
