Cup final disappointment
Unfortunately the first team were unable to end the season with silverware after a 4-0 defeat against Nirankari Sports Sabha at Boro. Some pictures of the match are posted at www.boropics.com.
I’m sure the after putting the disappointment of the season behind them the first team will be looking to bounce straight back into the Premier Division.
All that remains is to say that the end of season presentation and race night will be held at Bottles from 8pm, partners and guests welcome.
And that’s it or the season! the next update will be once the new fixtures are announced for the start of next season.

Relegation for the first team...
A 2-2 draw against Probuild was not enough to see the first team get relegated from the Premier Division even what has been a disappointing season. The one thing they have got to look forward to is playing the cup final at Boro which is now on Friday at 6:30pm.
The reserves saw yet another game postponed and this time it wasn’t down to the weather. Dun Cow Reserves conceded the game, I’m guessing this was because they are already champions and wanted to concentrate on there cup competitions. The only strange point to all this is that if they did concede the game then the Reserves should have seen the points awarded to them but this as of yet does not seem to have happened as the league table still shows that the reserves only played 15 games instead of the required 16. Just as point of interest the postponement of this game meant that of the 18 fixtures arranged this year for the reserves has seen a whopping 10 games called of!
In the final game of the season for the reserves this saw them take on Royal Oak in a match that ended 1-1, Chas Bailey scoring for the reserves.
Now that means that there’s only one game left to play this season so make sure that the you get yourselves down to Boro and support the first team in the quest to bring some silverware to Bottles.

Dress rehearsal
The weekend saw the first team take on title chasing Nirankari Sports Sabha in a double header match, the results were a 3-1 defeat and a 1-1 draw. Earlier on in the week the first team had slumped to defeat against Bedwell Athletic in the league, this now leaves the first team with one game left against Probuild, and they will be looking for maximum points before the cup final.
A provisional date has been given for the cup final against Nirankari, which will be Saturday 10th May, kick-off 10:30am at Stevenage Boro FC.
There was no game for the reserves this weekend but it’s back to league action for them this Thursday evening against Dun Cow Reserves, and then on Sunday for the game of there season against Royal Oak.

Cup final for First team
After what been a largely uninspiring season a cup final is always something to look forward to and the first team booked there place with a 4-3 (AET) win over Probuild. There opposition will be Nirankari Sports Sabha who beat JAP builders on penalties 5-4 after a 0-0 draw.
The reserves drew 1-1 with the Fox in the league and were unlucky not to win after what looked like perfectly good goal was disallowed for offside.
The first team play Tuesday night and Sunday this week, while the reserves don’t play until a week on Sunday. Check the fixtures for more details.

Unbelievable!
Postponed again due to snow! This is now the 9th postponement for the reserves and the 5th postponement for the first team this year, yes this year not season! The remaining fixtures are now all over the place so check out the fixtures for both sides.

It’s not our favourite competition...
So far this season neither the first team or the reserves have won in the invitation cup and this continued on Sunday with the first team winning the match 3-2, but losing overall 6-3.
The reserves didn’t play but were awarded full points because of Tom Tiddlers Tavern suspension.
Next games:
CSSFL(PD) - Bottles v Probuild
CSSFL(D2) - Royal Oak v Bottles Reserves
07.03.2008
Score draws all round...
The first team played in the Invitation Cup against Marquis of Lorne but could only manage a 3-3 draw and so lost the match 5-3 on aggregate.
The reserves also managed to draw against league leaders Morecambe Wanderers. For the second game running the reserves put in a good team performance and a times played some good football, at last everyone is enjoying playing football again. Unfortunately the reserves will not be able to keep their fine form going this weekend as their match against Tom Tiddlers Tavern has been postponed as they are currently suspended.
Next games:
Invitation Cup - Breachwood Lions v Bottles
CSSFL(D2) - Bottles Reserves v Tom Tiddlers Tavern (postponed - win awarded to Bottles Reserves)
27.02.2008
Both teams lose
Not such a good weekend with both the first and reserve teams losing. The first team lost 4-2 against DC Out Bar, this leaves the them second from bottom in the premier league and they will need to improve if they’re going to pull themselves further up the league.
The reserves played a divisional cup game against Marquis of Lorne. This was a good open game with both teams looking to snatch the win and with 10 minutes remaining the reserves thought they had done enough by scoring a perfectly good goal, unfortunately this was ruled out by probably the worst linesman anyone has ever come across. With 3 minutes remaining Marquis of Lorne scrambled in a goal from close range and as the final whistle blew the whole team felt rather cheated by the earlier controversial decision. Final score 0-1.
Next games:
Invitation Cup - Bottles v Marquis of Lorne
CSSFL(D2) - Bottles Reserves v Morecambe Wanderers
19.02.2008
Penalty shoot out success
The first team progressed to the semi finals of the premier division cup by seeing off Bedwell 4-3 on penalties (1-1 aet) and now face Probuild. With the current top three of the premier division all out of this cup could there be a final on the horizon? Next up for the first team is DC Out Bar in the league.
The reserves game was called off due to a frozen pitch but this weekend sees them take on Marquis of Lorne in the division 2 cup QF.
13.02.2008
That makes 31!
The first team crashed out of the KLM cup with a 2-0 defeat against Division 2 side Dun Cow Reserves. Next up for the first team is Bedwell Athletic in the divisional cup. The reserves had a great win against SCS in the league winning 10-2, this makes 31 goals scored against SCS in the three games that have been played against them this season. Next up for the reserves is Royal Oak in the league and the reserves will be looking to avenge the 4-2 deafest earlier in the season.
04.02.2008
First team score 7!
A 7-0 win the first team see them progress on to round 2 of the KLM challenge cup and now face Dun Cow Reserves. The reserves play SCS in the league.
01.02.2008
Reserve game off.
01.02.2008
4-4 for the Reserves!
An exciting game saw the Reserves draw 4-4, although this should be seen as points dropped.
23.01.2008
Just the reserves playing
The reserves play Tom Tiddlers Tavern in the league this week.
18.01.2008
Postponed
The reserves match against Old Social has been postponed.
15.01.2008
New Year and here we go again!
No games last week due to the weather, and chances are this weekends fixtures will be called off as well, but just in case the weather improves the reserves play Old Social, no game for the first team.
19.12.2007
Merry Christmas
The first team fell to a 3-2 defeat against JAP Builders, while the reserves drew 2-2 against White Horse (now Marquis of Lorne) and this it for this year no more football until the 6th January when the first team play Mallard away in the league while the reserves have to wait until 13th January to face Morecambe Wanderers, also in a league game.
All that remains to be said is have a merry Christmas and a happy new year, next update will be in the new year.
06.12.2007
Postponed
According to the CSSFL website the first and reserve teams games are both postponed. Next game for the first team is away to JAP Builders and for the reserves its a home game against White Horse.
28.11.2007
It’s a nightmare!
Not a good weekend for either the first or reserve teams. The first team lost 3-0 to Dun Cow in the Herts Senior Cup while the reserves crashed to their worst defeat of the season 11-0 against King Pin United having started the game with only 10 men, they did manage to get another player to turn up to make 11 part way through the game but with no subs and no one to run the line this conspired to be a very poor performance. This weekend sees both teams take a break, the next games are on Sunday 9th December.
21.11.2007
Goodnight Vienna!
I’m writing this after watching England’s disastrous failure to qualify for Euro 2008, and just like England the reserves failed to progress in the Herts Intermediate Cup losing 4-1 after taking the lead in the first half. The first team didn’t fair much better managing to only draw 3-3 to bottom side Broadhall, if that wasn’t bad enough the postponed game against Dun Cow back in October has been awarded as an away win to Dun Cow.
Moving on, the first team play Dun Cow in the Herts Senior Cup while the reserves play King PIn United in the Invitation Cup, King Pin start the game 1-0. On the plus side let’s hope we get a new England manager!
14.11.2007
Good winning weekend
A great weekend for the first and reserve teams with both winning there league games. The first team won 1-0 against Dun Cow with a goal from Darren Welton, while the reserves won 9-1 against SCS playing most of the game with only 10 men. Next up for the first team is a home league game against Broadhall while the reserves play Kcinsatop Reserves in the 3rd Round of the Herts Intermediate Cup. Kcinsatop Reserves are currently 7th in Hitchin Sunday League Division 1 having played 8 games, winning 4 and losing 4. In there last game they lost 4-2 to The Park who are second in the same league.
9.11.2007
Cup action...
Sorry for the late update. The first team made easy work of beating Stevenage Colts Old Boys 10-2 but the reserves failed to overcome A1 trophies losing 3-2, the reserves need to improve things if they’re going to get anything out of the season. It’s back to league action this week with the first team playing away to Dun Cow while the reserves play host to SCS and will be looking for a repeat of there 13-0 victory two weeks ago.
31.10.2007
Lots of goals!
An impressive 8-0 win in the Herts Senior Cup for the first team sees them progress to the next round with a match against Dun Cow. The reserves beat last years division 3 winners White Horse 4-2. This weekend sees both the first and reserves teams play in the KLM Cup, the first team are away to Stevenage Colts Old Boys while the reserves play at home against A1 trophies.
24.10.2007
Reserves win in style!
With a 13-0 victory over fellow division two side SCS the reserves were the highest scorers of the weekend, the reserves now face Kcinsatop from Hitchin in the next round. The first team drew 2-2 with Marquis of Lorne in the premier league, this leaves the first team in 6th spot. Next up for the first team is a home game against Silver Swifts in the Herts Senior Cup while it’s back to league action for the reserves away to White Horse.
17.10.2007
Reserves lose again
With the first team game against Dun Cow postponed, a decision which is being looked into by the league, the reserves had the only match but managed to lose 4-2 to Royal Oak. Both goals came in the second half for the reserves with Leroy Odd, and Rob Freeman (pen) both getting on the score sheet. The reserves play at home to SCS in the Herts Intermediate Cup this weekend, lets hope for some goals and a win. Next up for the first team is Marquis of Lorne away.
10.10.2007
It’s not going well for the reserves!
The first team got back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Probuild in the Premier Division while the reserves season hasn’t really got started with 3-2 defeat to Morecambe Wanderers, but we did see a wonder goal scored from the half way line by Glen Day. Both sides are at home this weekend with the first team facing Dun Cow and the reserves trying to get back to winning ways against Royal Oak.
03.10.2007
Not so lucky this week!
Both the first and reserves teams lost at the weekend. The first team lost 3-1 to Bedwell Athletic and the reserves lost 4-2 to the impressive Dun Cow Reserves. The first team next play Probuild, away, and the reserve team play Morecambe Wanderers, also away.
25.09.2007
13 is our lucky number!
Yes, 13 goals were scored between the first team and the reserves. An impressive 10-0 win for the first team while the reserves manage to win 3-1. It now seems that both sides are finding some form. This week sees the first team play Bedwell Athletic away while the reserves play division two league leaders Dun Cow Reserves, let’s hope for a repeat of this weekend.
17.09.2007
A win and a draw
The first team managed a 2-2 draw against JAP Builders, there next game is away against Broadhall. The reserves made hard work of beating Aston Athletic 3-2 with goals coming from Daisy, Spud and an own goal but at least they now have points on the board. There next game is against Old Social at King Georges.

Bottles Reserves v Yorkshire Grey?
I love cup competitions and the strange coincidences that these can throw up and here, potentially, is one in the KLM Challenge Cup. Now off the top of my head I can count at least 7 players who have played for Yorkshire Grey and of course who could forget Floppy, who run the club for many years. Providing both the reserves and Yorkshire Grey both win there preliminary round matches then we will meet each other in round one. Great effort...
The reserves failed to win their opening game of the season against fellow promoted Fox, losing 2-1, while disappointed to lose everyone was in high spirits after everyone had put in 100% effort for the full 90 minutes. On another day this could have had a completely different result with the number of chances we had. Great effort lads lets keep it up!
Next up...
The first team are at home to JAP builders, who lost to Dun Cow in their opening game. The reserves are away to Aston Athletic who also lost their opening game 10-1 to the Royal Oak.
