June 8th 2004, the transit of Venus, once in a lifetime chance to see it - so time to make a solar telescope
Ok, so that's a grand way of saying fixing some binoculars so that the image of the sun is projected onto some white paper.
The assembled unit
You have probably noticed that my binocular has only one lens, that's because it's a monocular - I don't own any binoculars
The images looked like this - none too bad considering what was used. The dark images have been tweaked to improve the contrast.
This last image is supposed to show the tear drop effect at the end of the transition, but the image quality isn't good enough.
