Notes: This was the band's first album and contained some of their best
known and loved songs, such as Ee By Gum,
Mountain Climber, and Big Jim. The two sides of the album
were very different in character and indicated (at least!) two sides to the band - on
side one consisted of what might be called "pop/folk" songs, which were contrasted by
the distinct Lancashire flavour of the songs on side two.
The cover photo shows the band at the bridge at Portland Basin, on the Ashton Canal. The present bridge dates
from 1835, and was built to allow horse-drawn canal boats to be towed across the junction with the Peak Forest Canal.
