How to get to our flat from the airport

1. Taxi. The taxi fare from the airport should cost around 450 Kcs (approx £10.00 or 16 Euros). Ask the taxi driver to go to Trziste Street in Mala Strana. If in doubt, tell him to go to the U.S. Embassy which is in the lower part of Trziste. The road splits exactly at the embassy with our upper part of Trziste curving up on the right and passing the Restaurant David (excellent but more expensive than we normally pay ourselves!) until the lane stops after 50m or so immediately at our red front door which faces you.

The penthouse flat is labelled "P".

2. Public transport is also pretty easy (Prague has one of the best integrated transport systems in Europe). You can buy tickets either at the magazine stand in the airport foyer or from a machine at the bus stand. (I recommend the magazine stand if you don't have change). Buy tickets for 12 Kcs each (approx 25p) as these will allow you to change from bus to metro at no extra cost. Thus it will cost 1 ticket each to go by bus/metro.

Come out of the modern airport building and walk 30-40m to where the ordinary municiple buses depart from. You need bus number 119. When you enter the bus, remember to punch your ticket in the machine (like composter le billet in France). The bus departs from the airport regularly and will take you to the Metro stop called Dejvicka where it stops. Get out and walk 20m or so to the Metro entrance.

Go into the Metro (it is the terminus and so there is only one choice) and take the Metro to the station Malostranska.

Exit Malostranska through the sculpture garden with fountains and our apartment is about a 9 minute walk turning left along Valdstejnska past the Czech Senate and Valdstejn Palace towards St Nicholas Cathedral from where we are only a couple of minutes.

Almost everything you will want to see on a first visit to Prague is within walking distance from the apartment - Prague Castle, St Vite's Cathedral, St Nicholas Cathedral, many palaces, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and the wonderful art nouveau cafe ( Cafe Mozart) at the powder tower.
