I had the pleasure of interviewing Scott, at his home in South Wales on the 2nd of April 1999 and it gave me an insight into the man behind Scott Anthony.
If ever there was a time to Stereotype type someone this was it I found I was asking myself the same old questions that probably everyone asks themselves. Must I avoid looking into his eyes, must I listen to his voice and will he have some soft melodic music playing.
All of these thoughts rushed through my mind, I found myself pressing his front door bell, suddenly the door opened, I was greeted by a tall blonde guy with a cheeky grin and a beautiful German Shepherd dog named Rontue. On reflection, looking at Rontue he had the most amazing eyes of a dog I have ever seen (there I go again with the eyes thing).
Scott lead me into his lounge which was warm and inviting it reminded me of a country cottage with wooden beams and an open stone fireplace with a roaring log fire.
Straight away I felt totally relaxed ( oho !! is this another irrational thought), there was a beautiful piece of music emanating from his CD player, every thing was in place.

Q. I believe you were originally trained in Clinical Hypnosis? Why the change to Stage?.

A. “I still practice Clinical Hypnosis, I think in all honesty that all Stage Hypnotists should have an understanding and insight into the clinical side.

Q. Why do you believe that?.

A. If you build a house, you have to have sound foundations, so what better way of getting a firm understanding of hypnosis than by the practice of Clinical Hypnosis.

Q. How would you know, that the training is of an acceptable standard?

A. Well this is difficult, with so many courses being offered, the only advice I can give is to make sure that the course is first of all a mainly practical course and that the course is recognised by either a University or the O.C.N. (Open College Network).

Q. Oh so there are accredited course in this subject.?

A. YES, but only in Clinical Hypnosis.

Q. So can anyone be Hypnotised.?

A. You know I have heard that question so many times, I’ve heard people, in conversation, state that “only weak minded people can be hypnotises,” nothing could be further from the truth, weak minded people are the worst hypnotic subjects, due to the lack of concentration, a skill that is essential to obtain relaxation.
