Web site design and development
SciWebUK has already produced great web sites for its academic partners including Oxford University e-Science groups and the BBSRC flagship research station, The John Innes Centre. We can produce well designed web sites to tight budgets and deadlines. Web sites are designed to a high standard of coding and both usability and the increasingly important accessibility standards, that all academic web sites must meet under the UK 2002 SENDA regulations.
Our web sites can be made using tables for layout, although we are increasingly using Cascading Style Sheets CSS to create more accessible and engaging web sites. Indeed our own site is made using CSS only and semantic web page structure. This is a great aid for users of alternative technologies to obtain succinct information for this site.
We aim to make our web sites conform to W3C standards and to pass as many of the accessibility target points as possible. We can also advise on maintaining web site accessibility after the project has been finished and presented to the client. In particular making Word and PDF documents accessible an area that is frequently over looked.
