About Us

Cathkin Model Flying Club has been on the go since the early seventies.

Prior to 2004 we maintained a site at Cathkin Braes Country Park This site was accessible latterly via the public car park on Cathkin road at Carmunnock.

However we moved to a new field with no public access in 2004.

This was mainly for safety reasons combined with the possibility a wind turbine may be erected on the braes preventing further use of the site. A 40metre mast was erected to survey the wind strength during mid 2003 with the apparent view to setting up a Wind Turbine farm on Cathkin Braes. We have therefore moved to a new location on MOD property at Dechmont, adjacent to the disused outdoor firing range We are also affiliated to the SAA :- Scottish Aeromodellers Association
