RULES OF THE CLUB
Section 6 Officers and Committee
6.1 The club shall have the following Officers.
Chairman Hon Secretary
Vice - Chairman Hon Treasurer
Who together with a committee consisting of the following will form the Committee of Management
Assistant Secretary Bar Chairman
Boat Match Secretary Bar Secretary
Beach Match Secretary Social Secretary
Festival Secretary Beach Festival Secretary Boat
PR/Records officer Junior Section Organiser
Boat Berths/Boat Shed Officer Building Chairman
Angling Secretary
A Wessex representative may be co-opted
6.2 All the Committee shall be eligible members and be over 18 years of age.
Junior representative(s), maximum of 2 between the ages of 16 and 18 years, may be co-opted onto the Committee.
6.3 All the Committee shall normally be elected at the Annual General Meeting with the exception of the Festival Secretaries (beach and boat) who may be elected at the Half Yearly General Meeting.
6.4 All Principle Officers shall serve for two years before standing for re-election.
6.5 Full, Full OAP and Life members with a minimum of 12 months membership shall be eligible for election.
6.6 The Committee shall have the power to constitute from its members sub-committees if they deem it expedient for the carrying on its work and may delegate to such sub-committees all or such power as they in their discretion think fit.
6.7 Such sub-committees will have the power to co-opt non-committee members of the club to assist them in their work subject to the approval of the Committee.
6.8 The Committee shall be elected by written ballot at the Annual General Meeting with the possible exception of the Festival Secretaries, and shall take office on the 1st January following until the conclusion of that year on 31st December.
6.9 Any one or more members of the Committee may be removed by resolution passed by two-thirds of the members present and entitled to vote at a Special General Meeting convened in accordance with the Rules.
Any vacancy or vacancies so resulting shall be filled by ballot in accordance with the Rules.
6.10 Should any of the Principle Officers die, resign, be removed or become unfit or incapable to act during the two year term of office, that position will be filled by election at the next Annual General Meeting. The elected member to serve for the remainder of the two year term before standing for re-election.
6.11 In the case of another Principle Officer/Officer of the Club wishing to stand for election of the vacated Principal Officer position, he/she must resign his/her Principle Officer/Officer post prior to the General Meeting and elections will be held for both posts as laid down in Rule 15.
6.12 In the case of any Committee members (other than a Trustee) who shall die, resign, be removed or become unfit or incapable to act, the Committee may at any time co-opt a person to fill the vacancy until the next Annual General Meeting unless the vacancy is previously filled at a Special General Meeting.
6.13 A Committee Member who resigns more than twice during his/her tenure because he/she does not agree with a democratic vote taken within the club will not be allowed to stand as a Committee Member for the remainder of his/her membership.
