Sandiacre Town 4 V Blackwell MW 1  (League) 27/11/04

In the first minute Blackwell had a great chance to open the scoring. Hatton's long kick found its way through to Norris but he was denied by Harvey who turned his shot behind for a corner from the corner Blackwell bundled the ball into the back off the net but the referee blew his whistle for a foul on keeper Harvey.

The game was a scrappy affair with few clear cut chances but that changed in the 17th minute Dickie's long pass found Brady on the edge off the box despite being tightly marked he still managed to get a shot on goal Hatton in the Blackwell goal, he could only parry the ball into the path of Potter and with a simple tap in he carried on his fine goal scoring run.

Brady then went close poking the ball just wide before Norris at the other end had a great chance to level but he tamely shot wide.

39 minutes had passed before Sandiacre got their second Freeman set his sights at goal but his strike was blocked hale got to the loose ball and gave it back to Freeman this time his shot got through a cluster of players and into the back off the net despite Hatton getting a hand to it .

H/t 2-0

Foster and Brady combined well, Brady then left his marker for dead as he raced towards goal. He then unleashed a shot that Hatton saw late but managed to get the ball around the post.

Blackwell pulled a goal back after a mix up in the Saints defence Harvey came for a cross but Dickie failed to hear his call and headed the ball backwards to the back post where Longmore just got in front of Berry to force the ball into the back of the net.

Potter got his second in the 62nd minute he first released Brady before making a well timed run into the box where he was on hand to smash the loose ball into the back off the net after Hatton again could only parry Brady's shot.

Shortly after Blackwell won a corner and looked to have reduced the arrears but the referee's assistant flagged for offside.

Sub Baxter got the fourth with a well worked free kick hale took a short free kick to Freeman who put in a great delivery to the back post to pick out Baxter he then placed his header over Hatton and into the far corner off the net.

Harvey at the other end made a great save to deny Downing.

Sandiacre Town 3 V Askern Welfare 1  (League) 20/11/04

After 5 consecutive away games it was nice to be playing at home and Sandiacre ran out comfortable winners and put last weeks crushing defeat at the hands off Radford behind them.

Sandiacre started with confidence in their play something that had been lacking a bit of late and they knocked the ball about well and took a well deserved 10th minute led, Whiley's throw-in was controlled by Potter before he went past his marker he then released Mellors who's curling shot nestled in the corner despite keeper Illman getting a hand to it.

The lead was doubled five minutes later. Potter did well holding the ball up and then released Whiley who had ventured forward he whipped in a quality cross to the back post where Foster headed the ball back into the danger area, Slaney was on hand to poke the ball into the back off the net.

A quick Sandiacre free kick set up Mellors who was through on goal for his second but Illman in the Askern goal came off his line quickly to halt the attack.

The siege on the Askern goal was intense and after Hale was fouled 25 yards out. Freeman struck a delightful free kick which had Illman scrambling to his left but the ball was a fraction to high and went out for a goal kick.

On a rare Askern attack wisdom wasted a good chance hitting his shot well over but should have done better having more time than he realised.

H/t 2-0

The second half saw Sandiacre take their foot off the pedal and Askern took advantage by playing better football but not really threatening Harvey's goal, as Robson wasted a chance shooting wide when they had eventually worked the ball into the danger area.

Sandiacre still looked dangerous when attacking and after Mellors and Potter combined well the ball ended at Freeman's feet his low strike fizzed past Illman's post.

The score was 3-0 after 74 mins a cross from the right was delivered by Mellors and with no apparent danger Illman let the ball slip through his hands and left Potter the simplest of chances to tap the ball into the back off the net.

Askern introduced Broad into the game coming on for Humble and this had an immediate effect, Robson showed neat skill to beat Berry and Harvey was forced into a save but at the expense of a corner the corner was put into the danger area and slipped from Harvey's grasp the ball was then only half cleared to Broad who fired the ball into the far corner.

The lively sub Broad fired in a shot that beat Harvey but crashed against the cross bar and then cleared from danger.

In the final minute the ball was played forward by Roberts and split the Sandiacre defence, Robson's run took him into the area, with just harvey to beat but his shot went over as Harvey made himself big.

Radford 3 V Sandiacre Town 0  (League) 13/11/04

Radford must enjoy playing Sandiacre, last season it was 4-0 and this 3-0 so it looks like from a Sandiacre point of view every team has a bogey team and Radford is theirs better luck next time Saints.

Harvey was in action in the early mins  saving  Tyres low driven shot then the action went to the other end where Hale’s cross was met by Potter although his header went narrowly wide the linesman had his flag raised for offside against Potter.

Sandiacre won a corner and Mellors delivery was only half cleared the ball fell to Freeman his shot was spilled  by wild and then in a goalmouth scramble the Radford defence denied the saints with some desperate defending, the ball eventually went out for a corner.  Mellors cross deceived the front post defender and hit the foot off the post but Radford then cleared their goal.

After 22 mins ex Radford player Dilnot fouled Samba in the penalty area and the referee didn't hesitate pointing to the penalty spot, (T) Taylor converted the spot kick and set Radford on their way.

Sandiacre's Baxter was bundled over and had his appeals for a penalty turned down by the referee.

Wild in the Radford goal saved twice first from Mellors then from Potter before Radford increased their lead twice more before the half time whistle.

The second came thanks to (T) Taylor he was released and beat Baxter for pace and calmly slotted the ball past Harvey.

Within a minute Samba  pulled the ball back to (T) Taylor who picked out Tyres at the back post with a delightful ball with the outside of his foot, this left Tyres the simplest of tap ins for a 3-0 lead at half time.

H/t 3-0

The second half saw Slaney on for the injured Mellors and it was Slaney who past to Hale but Hale failed to keep the ball down and it flew well over Wild's goal.

As Radford looked for their fourth Sandiacre had to defend desperately but the ball still fell to Fletcher but he curled his shot wide of goal.

Wild in the Radford goal can count his lucky stars that twice he was out of position but still managed to keep the ball out of his net as Potter and Brady.

Back at the other end Radford were left fuming as Tyres went down under challenge and the referee over ruled his assistant by not awarding a penalty play carried on and for all Radford's appeal's they were in vein.

On his return to Sandiacre from Long Eaton Brady had a quiet game by his standards but he did show neat skill to turn his man but his shot lacked direction.

Youngster Saxton had a great header cleared off the line and Radford managed to take the three points with a clean sheet.

Pelican 2 V Sandiacre Town 1  (League) 06/11/04

Sandiacre came up against the best attacking team they have seen this season with Sharp, Russell and Boulton causing havoc in the Saints defence and could have gone down by a bigger score if it hadn't been for Harvey again keeping his side in the game. But it could have been so different except for a strange refereeing decision to give pelican a penalty.

It was backs to the wall from the start. Boulton set the trend by attacking down the right and then crossing to pick out Walton whose shot was deflected behind for a corner. Hogan’s delivery to the front post caught Harvey unawares but the inform keeper quickly positioned himself to keep the ball out.

On a rare town attack Baker played a decent ball out to make shift forward hale he nodded the ball into the path of Mellors but with just the keeper Barker to beat Mellors was denied.

Pelican were attacking again this time from the left the cross from Hogan came in and Daykin couldn't believe his luck as he was totally unmarked but his faint header traveled just wide of the Sandiacre goal.

The next chance went to Sharp with the ball at his feet and Harvey off his line sharp tried to chip the ball into the empty net but the ball went inches over.

Harvey then denied Russell before Sandiacre stunned Pelican opening the scoring against the run off play. Potter had the ball near the corner flag wriggled through two defenders and pulled the ball back to Hale he tuck a swing at the ball and it fell nicely to Baker to slot the ball past Barker.

The lead was short lived as "that strange decision" came into play there looked no danger as the ball was pumped into the Sandiacre box, Freeman and Russell were together but with Russell backing into Freeman and then went down, I can only assume the referee saw something, what it was I honestly don't know, but he gave a penalty and Sharp crashed the ball straight down the middle off the goal to equalize.

After half an hour Russell and Boulton carved open the saints defense again and with the ball reaching sharp a goal looked certain but Harvey made a tremendous save to keep the score line level, sharp then turned provider and crossed the ball to the back to Boulton but Russell got in his way and Sandiacre cleared their line.

H/t 1-1

Boulton's attacking flare down the right continued in the second half and after he made ground he crossed perfectly to Russell in the center but from a point blank header Harvey tipped the ball over his cross bar from the corner Harvey saved bravely at Russell’s feet.

Sandiacre won a free kick just outside the box Mellors delivered the kick but  keeper Barker watched as Hale's header went over.

Pelican took the lead after 57 mins Boulton was again the provider this time he crossed to Russell who timed his run to perfection striking the ball past Harvey in his stride.

Sandiacre brought on young Saxton and Slaney up front and Hale dropped back into midfield this contained Pelican and Saxton put himself about to unease the Pelican defence, this brought an urgency into the Sandiacre's play but with no end product.

Southwell City 1 V Sandiacre Town 2  (League) 30/10/04

You can’t have everything in football but the management team  were glad of the three points despite not playing very well. Sandiacre had a slight shuffle with Dilnot coming in for Dickie and Slaney coming in to replace top goalscorer Nick Ghislanzoni who joined Shepshed Dynamos this week. Nick will be a big loss to the team but you can’t stand in a players way when the opportunity of playing in a higher stand of football comes along so Nick good look in the future.

Sandiacre made a positive start and could have took an early lead after Potter had been fouled near the goal line. Mellors delivered a free kick to the back where Whiley forced ex saints keeper Frost to tip the ball over. Then minutes later Slaney who was marked closely tried to beat Frost with a spectacular lob but he could only watch as the ball fell the wrong side of the cross bar.

At the other end Harvey continued his fine form saving well Saunders low strike and then Pratt opened up the saints defence with a fine run, he then put in a cross to Bennett but his header went a couple off inches wide.

Southwell were now playing well with the Saunders brothers causing trouble for the Sandiacre defence but Baxter did well to get back and defend as well as supporting his team mates in attack.

Sandiacre took a 36th min lead with a goal that was well worth the entrance fee, Southwell keeper Frost lost the ball on the edge off his box Slaney shielded the well before laying it back to Hale he hit an unstoppable strike on the half volley from 30-35 yards. Frost had a good view but the ball didn't go 2 foot off the floor and straight into the corner.

H/t 0-1

As Southwell forced Sandiacre back Potter found himself loosing the ball and in an attempt to win it back he conceded a free kick in a dangerous position, Pratts kick was deflected for a corner but Harvey commanded his area and took the ball as it was floated in.

Sandiacre weathered the Southwell pressure and the had a very good chance to double their lead. Potter released Mellors but his first touch was just a little to heavy and this gave Frost time to position himself correctly and make the save.

Hale had two chances in the same attack to increase the led but both of his shots were cleared off the line.

Pratt was looking very dangerous down the left but again Baxter stuck to his task and tracked back to stop Pratts runs.

Back came Southwell and Saunders hit a fine dipping shot that crashed against the crossbar and then Harvey palmed away the follow up shot.

With five minutes remaining sub Saxton gave the ball away cheaply and (b) Saunders crossed to Campbell in the centre to give Southwell a deserved equalizer.

Saxton was to make up for his mistake 3 mins later, Hale took the ball down the left cut inside and the pulled the ball back to Baker his shot was parried by Frost and Saxton dived in to head the loose ball into the back of the net.

Teversal 2 V Sandiacre Town 2  (League) 27/10/04

Honours were even at the end of 90 mins but after a Nick Ghislanzoni goal in the 3rd minute of injury time it was two points dropped not 1 point gain as far as Sandiacre were concerned. The game was a credit to both sets of players with not a miss placed tackle made just a fine game of football that was enjoyed by everyone. The first chance went to the visitors, Hale received the ball out wide and then moved it on to youngster Baxter who saw his shot blocked, then Teversal replied through Thorpe who used his pace to go past Mellors and Baxter before seeing his cross cut out by Harvey. The Teversal goal should have been breached on 15 mins. Hale received the ball after some neat passes but he shot over with just the keeper to beat but to save his blushes the referee's assistant had raised his flag. Baxter went down in the Teversal penalty box but his appeals went unnoticed by the referee. At at the other end Baxter could not cope with Thorpe's pace but berry stepped in to shut the door. Baxter was again involved with play as his persistence caused a mix up between Alberry and keeper Lomas and the ball fell to Mellors but his shot was cleared by Batty. As the game switched from end to end Rhodes lay the ball back to Spink who hit a testing shot for Harvey to deal with and he did well in the greasy conditions.

H/t 0-0

The opening goal came from a Teversal mistake, Alberry slipped on making a clearance and the ball fell to ex Teversal player Foster. He whipped in an inviting cross that Potter took well with a looping header to beat Lomas. Sandiacre should have doubled their led but failed to finish a goalmouth scramble Mellors and potter both went close. As Sandiacre tried to close the door on a Teversal attack Berry conceded a foul, Bradshaw took full advantage curling his kick in of the post.Alberry looked very nervous in the Teversal defence and presented Sandiacre with another two good chances but Hale and Potter both shot wide when they should have punished the slack defending.Mellors had a great chance but was denied by a brave save from Lomas. Hale then drilled a low shot narrowly wide. But for all Sandiacre's good play substitute Bedward looked to have won the game for Teversal as he broke free from inside his own half to take the ball into the Saints box and finish with a clinical strike into the far corner. But sandiacre showed bounce-back-ability to rescue a point, Whiley ventured forward and won a free kick and it was fitting the ex Tevie player Foster took the kick and picked out Ghislanzoni who headed in from close range.

Barton Town OB 1 V Sandiacre Town 0  (League) 23/10/04

High flyers Barton stopped Sandiacre's good run with a fine goal in the second half to take the three points.

Sandiacre took the game to the home side and top scorre Ghislanzoni bent in a free kick which Potter did extremely well to keep the ball in, it fell nicely for youngster Baxter to strike but his well driven shot deflected for a corner.

Baxter was again in action down the right he did well to first keep the ball in play and then used his skill to get past his marker before whipping in a delightful cross to the center where Potter was nudged off the ball and the danger was cleared.

It was all Sandiacre and a neat move involving Ghislanzoni, Hale and Potter ended with the ball being played through to Mellors but Borley was quick off his line to take the ball at Mellors feet.

New boy Freeman who has signed from Borrowash Vics released Ghislanzoni but his shot blazed over.

Then it was nearly disaster Whiley conceded a free kick in the 31st min. Carter’s kick was perfect for the tricky Dickinson but he was to be denied by a super save from Harvey.

H/t 0-0

Sandiacre's hard work was undone as Barton came flying out of the blocks in the second half to open the scoring grimes switched the ball from left to right to find Everett he played the ball back to Raspin who used his pace to take the ball into the box and fire past Harvey.

Sandiacre then suffered another blow as center half Mark Dickie pulled up with a hamstring problem, and then Potter was mauled over in the penalty box but to everyone's amazement the referee played on and Barton cleared their lines.

As the saints players felt hard done by it seemed to affect their play and passes went astray and touches were left to be desired.

Grimes twisted and turned before smashing a shot at Harvey and then blistered the loose ball wide of goal.

Grimes was then involved with Barton's next chance his cross from the left was just to far in front of Dickinson's dive but it went through to Everett forces another fine save from Harvey.

Sandiacre then made two more substitution's as Hale and Baxter went off with injuries to their hands.

With 5 mins remaining Ghislanzoni took the ball into Barton's penalty area he then played the ball to Slaney but the chance went begging as Slaney failed to get his shot on target.

Sandiacre Town 3 V Appleby Frodingham 0  (League) 16/10/04

Once again Sandiacre’s goalkeeper Mark Harvey helped his side to a victory that could have been a different story had he not made a string of fine saves and another top draw save from the penalty spot for the second week running.

Sandiacre had the better chances of the first half but Potter and hHale were both guilty of wasting good chances, both pulled their shots wide of the target.

Sandiacre's defence then had a scare as Hibbard went down under challenge but the referee waved away the Appleby appeals for a penalty away.

The game then swung to Appleby and they settled down and played the better football and Harvey had to be at his best to save from Holt as he beat the offside trap, Foster then cleared the loose ball.

Edmunds then delivered two quality corners the first saw Barlow head over then holt had his header cleared off the line by Foster for another corner, this was taken by Robinson and met by Barlow. He towered above the saints defence but his header crashed against the crossbar.

H/t 0-0

In the first minute of the second half Whiley was harshly adjudged to have brought down Hibbard, the incident also looked to be outside the area but the referee gave a penalty kick. Up stepped Barlow but his well taken spot kick was superbly saved by Harvey with a dive to his right.

Harvey was again in action tipping Holts long range shot over the crossbar before hale did well to get a cross in at the other end but Ghislanzoni blazed over.

Ghislanzoni had been quiet up until now but two goals from him in a minute changed the game.

The fist came on 67 mins. Sub Slaney showed neat control and then played the ball into the path of Ghislanzoni and he made no mistake from 10 yards out.

His second was a fine individual goal Ghislanzoni won possession from the restart on the half way line he took the ball on 20 yards before passing two defenders with ease and then unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Ghislanzoni looked to have got his hat-trick but the referee deemed he fouled keeper Turver before taping the ball over the line. Sandiacre were rampant now and Potter held off a number of challengers before releasing Hale but his goal bound shot was well blocked.

Sandiacre completed the scoring in the 89th minute influential Ghislanzoni rode a challenge and then fired a shot that was to hot for Turver, he could only parry the ball into the path of Potter to hit the back of the net.

Sandiacre Town 3 V Clipston M W 2  (League) 09/10/04

Sandiacre got back to winning ways but praise goes to joint manager/goalkeeper Mark Harvey as he pulled off a number of excellent saves including a fine penalty save.

Sandiacre dominated the the game from the first whistle and took the led in the 5th minute. Potter did well down the right before releasing Ghislanzoni in the center and he calmly slotted the ball under the advancing Sprigg.

Ghislanzoni then found himself dumped on the ground as he tried to get clear but defender Allen choose to bring him down and for his trouble went into the referee's book, from 20 yards out Baker's shot was well gathered by Sprigg.

Sandiacre's next chance came from a poor kick out by Sprigg, the ball fell to Mellor’s on the half way line and with Sprigg out of his goal Mellor’s tried his luck but his lob curled wide.

The lead was doubled on the half hour mark. Hale played a superb ball for Potter to run on to and despite Sprigg saving the first shot he could only parry the ball back into the path of Potter who made no mistake second time around.

H/t 2-0.

Clipstone looked a different team as the second half kicked off and after carter was denied by Harvey. Dickie was then adjudged to have fouled Woodcock. Four minute's into the second half Carter was again denied as Harvey saved his penalty kick with a tremendous dive to his right.

Sandiacre looked to have put the game out of Clipstone's reach when Ghislanzoni robbed Arins, he then took the ball out wide before he then came back in field along the penalty box waltzing past 3 defender's as if they weren't there and then fired a low shot past Sprigg for 3-0.

At this stage sandiacre were cruising but to Clipstone's credit they never gave in and pulled a goal back on 77mins Carter eventually got the better of Harvey heading Thorpe’s cross past his desperate dive.

Woodcock was then denied by Harvey with a fine one handed save and then Harvey preformed a excellent double stop first from Mulligan and second from Woodcock.

The game went into injury time and Woodcock set the Sandiacre’s nerves jangling as he got a fine solo goal to set up a tense last few minute's but Sandiacre held on.

Long Eaton 2 V Sandiacre Town 2  (DSC) 05/10/04

Long Eaton progressed through to the next round off the Derbyshire senior cup but had a few frights along the way, and despite two leagues difference between the clubs this was a cup match and the Saints were not just going to be rolled over.

Sandiacre bossed the first 15 mins and went close through Foster's vision to curl the ball out to Ghislanzoni, his cross was missed by the Long Eaton defence and the ball went through to Potter but he was stretching and could pull the ball back towards goal.

Harvey in the Sandiacre goal had to be at his best turning behind Carder's long range free kick

Long Eaton then found their rhythm and it was ex Saints stars Brady and Aldred who set up the next chance. Brady played in Aldred but he tried to walk the ball into the back off the net and when he realized it wasn't going to happen he shot but Mellor’s slid in to deflect the shot wide.

Brady then beat the offside trap 25 yards out and race towards goal but was then denied by a fine save from Harvey diving low to his right.

Harvey was again in action saving well from McKenzie but the parry fell kindly for Brady who opened the scoring by netting from 6yrds.

Just before half time Ghislanzoni had a great chance to level but from Mellor’s corner his header went over.

H/t 1-0

The second half had only been going 2 mins and the saints drew level Mellor’s delivered a corner to the near post and disaster in the Long Eaton defence by not clearing the ball let in Ghislanzoni who tapped in from 2yrds out.

The pendulum swung the other way and with the bit between their teeth Sandiacre took the game to Long Eaton and nearly took the led Potter did well to keep the ball before placing a shot over Whalin but it crashed against the cross bar and away from danger, next Hale had a fierce shot charged down.

The pressure on the Long Eaton goal was relentless and after Whalin could only parry Ghislanzoni’s header into the path of Slaney, Slaney couldn't direct the ball into the gapping net.

But 86 minuets had passed and up popped Brady to stick the knife into his ex team mates backs, as a cross came in from the right Brady jumped with Harvey but fouled the saints keeper this went unseen by the officials and he headed in the winning goal.

Gedling M W 1 V Sandiacre Town 2  (League) 02/10/04

He was the villain in the first half then turned hero in the second captain Danny Hale could do nothing right until the second half where he stunned the Gedling outfit with a stunning strike which would be a candidate for goal of the season.

Sandiacre got off to what could only be said as an indifferent start and took an early led Baker won the ball just inside the Gedling half and then played in Ghislanzoni with a fine ball but Ghislanzoni found himself on the floor as Hudson bundled him over in the penalty area Baker took responsibility but saw his spot kick saved but the linesman spotted keeper (D) Wright off his line and the spot kick was to be retaken this time Baker made no mistake sending (D) Wright the wrong way.

After that Gedling enjoyed plenty of possession as Sandiacre could get to grip with the pace of the game and sloppy passing gifted Gedling opportunities to get back into the game.

On 15 mins Curtis found himself in acres of space but he should have done better but he wasted the chance by rushing his shot and it went high and wide.

Sandiacre's captain then gifted Gedling their equalizer his overstruck back pass was to strong for Whiley and this let in bull he kept his calm and went around Harvey and although Dickie got back to challenge Bull found the back of the net.

With ten mins remaining of the first half Gedling played some really neat football and nearly took the lead, ex saints player Elliott found (G) Wright, he then put in a delightful cross to pick out Bull but his rasping volley went over Harvey’s crossbar.

H/t 1-1

After a roasting at half time the Sandiacre players came out with more purpose knowing they were still in the game, Ghislanzoni had a chance but blazed his shot well over.

Villain earlier Hale then turned hero with the ball at his feet he had a quick look up to spot the Gedling keeper slightly out of position he produced an ordacious effort to beat (D) Wright.

Hudson was then booked as his temper boiled over and was seen by a linesman to clash with Baker who had harshly been given offside.

Gedling brought on their subs in search of an equalizer but Sandiacre defended much better than the first half and were unlucky not to have a third but Ghislanzoni had a shot cleared of the goal line. sub Taylor found himself one on one with keeper (D) Wright but lacked composure and shot straight at the keeper.

Sandiacre opened the scoring on the 7th min. The goal came following a poor Holbrook clearance which was chased down by Ghislanzoni he nicked the ball and then passed it on to Hale who then struck a wonderful cross that found its way to Slaney he took a touch before lashing it past Dhillion.

The rest off the half belonged to Sandiacre but chances went begging first Ghislanzoni's half volley went just over then Higgins played a superb ball through for Ghislanzoni who slipped through the offside trap, but with just the keeper to beat his curling shot went high and wide.

Mellor's well taken corner kick set up the next chance but Flindall’s header failed to trouble Dhillion. Sandiacre turned a Holbrook attack into an attack off their own and the ball was finally played through to Baker but he shot straight at the keeper.

H/t 1-0

Ghislanzoni had a hand in the second after the ball was carelessly given to him he then found Slaney who played an inch perfect ball to pick out Flindall he finished coolly to double the saints lead.

Dhillion made a tremendous save to deny Baker's well driven shot but he was helpless after 72mins. A cross field pass was left by Baker for the on rushing Mellor, he squared the ball to Slaney who cut inside and tucked the ball away for his second and the saints third.

With five remaining sub Baxter let fly from 20 yards but his rasping shot went narrowly wide of Dhillion's goal.

Holbrook M W 3 V Sandiacre Town  2  (League) 15/09/04

A last minute stunning goal from sub Broadhurst gave Holbrook all three points and set up a thrilling encounter as the two teams were to play the reverse fixture just 3 days later.

Kicking up hill in the first half Sandiacre should have taken the lead early on Ghislanzoni first had an effort beating Boulton in the Holbrook goal but saw his shot hit the upright then Potter went close with a header but Boulton saved.

At the other end Orr's shot was saved by Harvey and then fisher did well to hold the ball up before his shot on the turn took a deflection wide.

Holbrook then won 3 corners in quick succession. Sandiacre didn't look convincing defending them and when the third was dropped by keeper Harvey but Newton saw his shot cleared.

H/t 0-0

The second half came to light on 55minbs, Potter and Higgins worked the ball well into the Holbrook penalty box and the latter crashed the ball into the back of the net from six yards.

The lead lasted some 14 mins until Newton made space cutting inside the penalty box and then unleashed a drive to beat Harvey.

Ghislanzoni had the holbrook defence twisting and turning and after his cross was cleared for a corner. Mellor’s first kick was well cleared by Boulton but from the second he made an error by not claiming the ball that he called for and Slaney was on hand to head home.

Back came Holbrook and Newtons cross was put into the danger area Fisher went down under challenge from Dickie and the referee awarded a penalty which Fisher took himself and smashed the ball into the roof off the net.

With the game looking to be going for a draw Holbrook went on the attack and Broadhurst thrilled his team mates with a stunning strike to beat Harvey.

The winning goal came in the 3rd min of injury time but there was still time for Sandiacre but Ghislanzoni had his desperate shot cleared off the line by Elder

Sandiacre Town 1 V Dinnington 2  (League) 28/08/04

It certainly is a game of two halves as Sandiacre should have been at least two up at half time but Dinnington deserved the win on their second half performance.

Both teams knocked the ball around the pitch and it was Sandiacre who breached the Dinnington defence Potter won the ball out wide. He tried to put Hale through but the pass was slightly behind him the ball ended up at the feet of Aldred and he brought a fine save out of Rhodes but at the expense of a corner.

The next chance fell to Baker but Rhodes again did well finger tipping his long range shot over for a corner. Dinnington defended the corner well and went straight down the other end and created a chance but Gallagher’s cross deceived his team mates and went out for a goal kick.

Sandiacre pressed again and potter couldn't believe his luck as Rosser miss placed his back pass straight to him but potter struck his shot straight at Rhodes

At the other end Harvey was in action saving bravely at the feet of Gallagher after he had beat Dickie in the penalty box.

Potter had another chance escape him but the best chance of the half went to Aldred he received the ball on the edge of the box and with a delightful chip he beat Rhodes but could only watch as the ball hit the crossbar and out for a goal kick.

On the stroke of half time Harvey saved well to deny (M) Thompson to keep the score line level

H/t 0-0

The second half continued in the same vain both keepers at their best Rhodes saving from Aldred and Harvey saving from Ostane-Elhaou.

Then disaster for Sandiacre. Gallagher held the ball up well before laying it off to Blythen his low drive beat Harvey to stun the saints.

Potter then looking to redeem himself for his earlier misses used his pace to brake clear but he pulled his shot wide of goal.

Stocks replaced Ostane-Elhaou and was in the thick of the action straight away chipping Harvey but defender Whiley got back to head clear of the line.

Blythen got the better of Whiley on the 70th minute mark, Whiley lost the ball in the long grass and as Harvey came out Blythen knocked the ball past him and forced the ball over the line for 2-0.

Sub Hines should have put the game well beyond Sandiacre’s reach but Harvey reacted well on two occasion's to deny him.

Aldred set up a tense finish beating Rhodes with a shot that crept inside the post with a shot from 10yrds

Hines was again denied by Harvey with a desperate save to stop the ball on the line but Blythen got a yellow card for his verbal outrage at the referee's assistant claiming the ball had crossed the line.
