Oliver came to us aged approximately 10 days, via a vet in Barton-le Clay. He was handed in shortly before midnight on an evening in July by a lady who had almost tripped over him whilst walking her dog through a field.

Sadly we will never be able to release him as one of his wings is deformed, meaning that he is unable to fly.

Even if oliver’s wing had been fine, we would still not have been able to release him however. Over 50% of the Barn Owl population has disappeared since the 1930's and because of this, a large scale licensed captive breeding programme was carried out in the late 1980's to boost the wild population. Unfortunately, this programme was not successful and large numbers of captive bred owls died of starvation.

Oliver will remain with us for the rest of his life and as a permanent resident, you can sponsor him for just £9.99 through our ebay shop.
