As the Autumn approaches young Hedgehogs who are still
too small to hibernate come out in a desperate search for food! Unless
these hedgehogs gain enough weight to get through the Winter, they will
simply die. Any Hedgehog seen out in the day during Autumn needs help!
As one
of our only other Hedgehog Carers, Caddington Hedgehogs has now closed
down; we are expecting to be inundated with these “Autumn Orphan”
hedgehogs this Autumn.
We have
only a limited time to prepare ourselves for the arrival of the orphans
and we need your help!
- We need
donations so that we can buy the drugs,
food and other equipment that we will need to care for orphans.
- We need
donations of good quality Hutches that we can use to give out to our
foster carers, so that they can care for overwintering Hedgehogs once
they have finished treatment and gained some weight.
- We need
foster carers to take on
some of these older Autumn Orphans and care for them whilst they overwinter.
- We need
suitable gardens as release sites
(suitable means where there are already hedgehogs visiting). Please
note that we will not place hedgehogs where there is a dog in residence.
