Lenten Cross - 2003

After a gap of a couple of years we celebrated again the Lenten Cross in 2003
The 2 photos show the transformation from a cross representing Christ's teaching and suffering to a cross of glorious colour representing His resurrection.

The Lenten Cross (TRMC’s version) involves placing items at the cross each Sunday during Lent.
We place :-
Week 1 - The Cross is placed at the front of the church
Week 2 - A bowl and towel
Week 3 - Bread and wine
Week 4 - A bag of silver coins
Week 5 - A stick, scarlet robe and crown of thorns
Week 6 (Palm Sunday) - Palm Leaves and (in the absence of a Good Friday meeting) hammer in nails
In week 7 (Easter Sunday) members of the congregation remove the placed items and, having replaced the crown of thorns with a garland of flowers, the whole congregation then place flowers on the cross.
