Sunday Mornings

Sunday Mornings

So what happens on a Sunday morning?

The following is what you can expect on a “normal” Sunday at Towcester Road. At special services or at the Minister or Preacher’s direction there may be some variations.

The doors to our main entrance (on Southampton Road) are usually open by 10.15.

Our Welcomers will be on hand to greet you and provide the appropriate hymn or song book and a copy of our latest News & Notices.

Our services start 10.45 with one of the Service Stewards giving any verbal notices and a welcome to whoever is leading worship.

Worship is generally led by our own Minister, Reverend Philip Taylor, who we share with Kingsthorpe Methodist Church, one of the other Circuit Ministers or one of the Circuit’s Local Preachers.
2 or 3 times a quarter we will have Locally Resourced Worship where worship is led by members of our own congregation.

An Offering, where the congregation is invited to make monetary donations to the life and work of the church, will be taken at some point in the service usually before the children leave for Junior Church.

Our children usually leave the main service after the second hymn to go to Junior Church. We welcome visiting children to join the groups.

If we are invited by the Minister or Preacher to share The Grace at the end of the service it has become our practice to hold hands and look at each other as we do so. We realise that this is not everybody’s experience and if you would feel more comfortable in not joining hands we understand.

After the service Tea & Coffee are available in the foyer, all are welcome to join us for a chance to chat and share fellowship.

Holy Communion is a part of our services about once per month. All who accept Christ as their Saviour are welcome to receive Communion and it is our practice to accept children at the Lord’s Table. The practice of communion and it’s meaning is a regular part of the instruction we give in our Junior Church. Obviously if you would prefer for your child not to receive Communion we will respect your wishes but you must ensure your child is aware of your feelings.

Of course a church isn’t just about Sunday mornings and TRMC is no exception.
