In an innovative & forward-looking partnership initiative, the Voodoo Society, the Regal Pan-Regional Association of Blind Persons, and Scrufts have made funding available for a unique new project:-

The Half-Blind Guide Corpse
---------------for ignorantly cooperative music-----------------

Here at long last is the first wave of the project
it works like this :--

I have uploaded 3 bass parts -- 2 bass guitars and 1 fake bassoon
-- this is all that you will get to hear

Each of you will add parts to go with the bass parts -- but you will not hear each other's contributions
-- thus you are working half-blind --
the percussion on the bass tracks will disappear in the final mix:- it is only there for your guidance

I do not know how you will get your contributions to me -- perhaps you will upload them, perhaps you will snail mail them on CDs
-- I would prefer wave files or similar quality, but send whatever is practical

I am Simeon the Exquisitor, and I shall mix the tracks as I see fit
-- if you wish to be an Exquisitor too, contact me at the address below
and I will send you CDs of tracks I have been sent, to mix in whatever manner you desire --
if you want to post a new guide track for a new Half-Blind Corpse, get it to me and i'll post it on this site

If you lack recording software, I recommend these free downloads: --
multitrackstudiolite (mixes up to 3 stereo tracks with an analogue-like interface, realtime fx & nondestructive drag & drop editing
[advrt] ) from
http://www.multitrackstudio.com/download.php
and goldwave (wave editor) from
http://www.goldwave.com/release.html or
http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=59197

Please send me a better illustration than the one above. Thank you.

here are the links to the first three (bass) parts:-

slexitofegg99 posted this on the Einsturzende Neubauten Supporters Forum @ http://www.neubauten.org :-

I am also interested in collective music-making by web - maybe a "guided corpse" approach (a term I invented in the middle of this sentance) where, for example, someone gives maybe a bassline & percussion, names the notes but leaves the harmony un-pinned-down, and people each add a track of some sort, then the exquisitor (or exqisitors - another term i've just invented) mixes the tracks. I think a little melody &/or harmony would be good to anchor the noise. ps noiseheads might like to check out the crusher on http://www.crusher-x.de xs - - Slegg, I love that idea! I often thought of doing it a while back, but never had anyone to pass it on to. As far as submitting songs, I'm sure once we finish the first project we will do it all over again with new supporters music. So keep that in mind. - thank you exit of http://www.howdymedia.com/99special - i made up a bass bit last night - I now need to record it and make it available - i haven't yet made myself a website to upload it onto (although i believe my ISP provides me with space for one - must build it soon!)- & my crap free e-mail address only allows the most minuscule of attachments - so maybe you (exit or whoever you might be today, dear reader) have some helpful suggestions for me, or would like to make the first move while i'm getting my act together - my opening line will be a bassline with some "for-guidance-only" percussion added which hopefully someone will replace later - if anyone has no recording facilities i really recommend mltitrackstudiolite downloadable free from http://.multitrackstudio.com/download.php and goldwave also downloadable free from http://www.goldwave.com/release.html or http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=59197 Another approch might be to start with a percussion part & instruction about what harmony is allowed - i think it would be good to strt with a fixed rhythm and some sort of melodic or harmonic part to add things to so that there's some kind of structure for any kind of subsequent chaos to develop around; hence my idea that the notes of my bassline will be stated as well as sounded to make it easier to know what you're blending with - but you (dear reader) may have other ideas and may wish to start out with another model - as its xmas and i'm not boycotting it i make no promises about when i get my contribution in, but I hope it'll be soon - Maybe you should start a new thread to attract attention to this! Something like "Supporters Musical Collage" or something. Then you can be sure to get as many people that might be interested in doing this. I will just mention: http://artpartisans.org and the fabulous international musical sensation: Herr K. which was a collaboration over the world-wide-inter-web-net by susdorf (from phase 1) and featuring several others including yours truly. it was/is cool cool cool to do, so... id be on board. - if anyone is interested. comments? Questions? i used to do some bands in stoke-on-trent, england, when i was unemployed - you know, the usual sort of thing, industrial punk, space-rock and ukrainian klezmer ska - but now i just sit alone in my cubicle at work and channel music into my laptop (or rather, a small portable computer) but it's not really me who writes it; it ais actually dictated to me telepathically by an ancient race of highly evolved gorillas i must put some onto a website sometime they may not actually be gorillas, but they feel very big when they take possession of my mind - oh it appears I do have a website for the telepathic monkeys ( Dannyboat may wish to take note of this) I must have done it over xmas (a xtian-capitalist festival near the winter solstice ) it's:- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.legg4/Psimswebpage.htm
