Text Box: What is Spray Tanning?
Spray tanning is the easiest way to apply the active ingredient DHA (found in most self tanning products). The fine mist from the spray gun ensures a perfectly even application to the skins surface and as there is no 'rubbing in' required and you avoid streaking and patchiness.
Each spray takes around 10 minutes!

How do I Prepare for a Spray Tan
Exfoliate your skin within 12 hours of sunless tanning application to smooth skin for
even tanning results.  Spend a little time on knees, elbows, feet and hands.  Exfoliate at least twice a week to maintain smooth, healthy-looking skin.
If you Shave do this at least 6 hours before your sunless tanning session.  It is best to wait four days after waxing before sunless tanning.
Do NOT moisturise skin at least 2 hours prior to your sunless tanning session.  Lotions will create a barrier, preventing the absorption of tanning solution.
Remove makeup prior to sunless tanning

You will need to apply barrier cream to the palms of hands, on nails and cuticles of both hands and feet and any other areas where you do not want the sunless tan to develop.

Wear dark, loose-fitting clothes.  Sunless solution washes out of most clothing, but the immediate cosmetic bronzer could wipe off on to lighter clothes, giving them temporary discolouration.

Do not wear wool, nylon or silk during or after your sun-less application for at least 8 hours as the sunless ingredients could cause staining.

After care and how to prolong your spray tan

Wait at least 6 hours before you shower after tan application.  This will allow time for the self-tanning reaction to occur on the skin.

Do not moisturise until after your first shower.  This could affect the immediate reaction of the sunless solution on the skin and cause streaking.

Do not swim after your sunless tanning session.  Immediate contact with water, chlorine and salt water could affect the immediate reaction of the sunless solution.  Also bear in mind that chlorine and salt water may dry your skin and cause your sunless tan to fade faster.

Wait at least 6 hours before you exercise.  Excessive perspiration may affect the immediate reaction of the solution on the skin.

Do NOT exfoliate for at least 48 hours after you sunless tanning application.  When you do exfoliate, do so gently and evenly to help preserve an even tan.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is DHA (Dihydroxyacetone)?
DHA is a colourless derivative of sugar cane that has been FDA approved for more than 30 years. DHA darkens the skin by interacting with the amino acids in the dead surface cells found in the outermost layer of the skin, causing it to darken naturally.
How long does it take to apply?
It takes approximately 5 minutes to apply and 5 minutes to dry.
Does it have any smell?
It is almost completely odourless.
Do I need a secondary application?
No, just one single application will give a rich golden colour that lasts for 7 - 10 days depending on your skin type. The colour fades like a natural tan.
How often can I get a Spray Tan?
As often as you like - the formula is completely safe and DHA is FDA approved for cosmetic use. Most people like to top up their tan once a week and it is completely safe to do so.
Will the tan protect me from sunburn?
No. You must use sunscreen.
Will my tan stain my clothes, towels and bed sheets?
Light coloured fabrics may stain. So avoid wearing light coloured nylon, silk or wool fabrics after treatment. Other light coloured fabrics may stain slightly but the stains should wash out. Try to wear loose fitting dark clothes after the application until you have your first shower.
If I swim in a chlorinated pool, will my sunless tan go away?
Long exposure to water, with or without chlorine, will fade your sunless tan. This is apparently what happens: your outer skin cells will start to soak up water, and that dilutes the effect of the sunless tan. The longer you are in the water, the worse it will be. Using sunless tanners regularly over a period of time will saturate the skin better and the sunless tan will hold up longer in water, but it will still be affected. Some people report that applying a waterproof sunscreen before they get in the water prevents their sunless tan from fading as quickly. But no sunless tan can stand up to extreme conditions such as a day spent in a wet suit.
Where can I be sprayed?
I do have a portable spraying booth - you need floor space of approximately 6ft x 3ft for the booth plus room for me to stand in to spray.  If the treatment is taking place in your home a shower enclosure is a good place as I can wash away the over-spray.
