This project is a bike generator which was made using a pm dc motor from a whirlpool washing machine a turbo trainer which is one of those things that the back wheel sits in and when you pedal it turns a fan which creates the resitance. This was lent to me from a generous chap next door. When the back wheel is mounted in the turbo trainer it is slightly raised from the floor by a few inches which was the ideal distance to place the motor underneath. And that was it i placed the motor underneath, there was no nuts and bolts it sat there nicely and the motor shaft gripped the tyre as it still had the grooved fitting on it that the drum belt sat over.

Well thats the label on the motor for those who need to know what it says on pm dc motor.

This pic shows the end of the shaft, now see that groove fitting on the end its pushed on i think but who ever put it on didnt want it to come off or let me take it off !

This pic shows the how the back wheel of the bike looks sitting in the trainer i removed the fan before this pic was taken it was held on with an allen screw

POWER! it works and thats pedalling at an easy steady pace and its pumping out about 150volts dc lighting up a 240v 40w bulb.

Im pedalling now and could keep this up for 15 - 20 minutes but that bulb is as bright as it would be if it was plugged into the wall.
