Generic Textbooks – not written for any particular specification

There are several of these by different authors and publishers. They are generally big and thick and called “A level Biology” or Advanced Biology. It is always useful to read about a topic you are doing in a different book and compare with your notes. These books also cover some topics that are no longer on the specification but may help your overall understanding of Biology and in essay preparation.

 

Background reading

        Highly recommended – Biological Sciences Review , (magazine) by Philip Allan. There is a copy in the library and recent  editions in S3 and S4. You can subscribe to this very useful magazine, see Mrs DeFreyne.


     General background reading – the range and choice is vast and will depend on your own interests and strengths.
