RETURN TO FORM FOR FUGIES! (Tue 13th Feb)

It isn’t a coincidence that the Fugies returned to their early season form, when their star player, dangerous Stallard, returned to the team after a 2 month lay off. Frightening the opposition with a fine 180, he inspired the team to a 5 – 2 win at the Alcan, playing against their ‘C’ team. Pert Pat, who hadn’t seen a maximum for some time, was quite overcome. “I’ve been down a couple of times in the last few weeks, but now I feel myself being lifted back up”, she panted “I don’t want to go down again next week”. Don’t worry Pat, if you go down, we’ll all gather round.
We have been unable to get hold of the official league table, but we are confident that the Fugies are still on top.
Team :-
Andy Aldington, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles ‘o’ Toole, Lawrence Stallard, Pat Cox

BIGGEST YET DEFEAT FOR FUGIES! (Tue 6th Feb)

The Fugies suffered their heaviest defeat going down 5-2 away at the Tradesmans Arms last night. I failed to interview the captain, beautiful Beryl, as she was too distraught after yet another loss. Pert Pat Cox said “I’ve never been on the end of anything so big”! There’s plenty of time left yet Pat. I’m sure the team are due to return to their winning ways.
Team :-
Andy Aldington, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles ‘o’ Toole, Darryl Horner,
Pat Cox, Paul Conlon

FUGIES 6 HIT FOR 6!

The Fugies lost in the first round of the Wentloog League six a side competition last week. Despite being aided by part timer Paul Conlon, they went out in the very first round. Captain, ‘Beautiful Beryl’, as she likes to be known, said “I’m not too disappointed, we need to concentrate on our league position.” Pat Cox was heard to say; “Yes, I like to concentrate on my positions as well.” Keep watching the videos Pat.
You may like to know that on Tuesday 16th of January, the Fugitives will be hosting the Wentloog and District Darts League pairs competition. That will be a night to remember I am sure.
The latest League Table has been published at the half way stage. Note that although the Fugies are on top by 8 points, the Handpost B team have won more games. Just like a pantomime, they’re behind you Fugies!

ANOTHER NARROW DEFEAT FOR FUGIES! (Tues 5th Dec)

The Fugies lost in a very tight contest at the Handpost last Tuesday. Although beaten for the third time, the team must be top of the league by some 6 or 7 points. Beryl Horner, captain, looked very disappointed as she handed me the scoresheet. Although not a word was said, she looked close to tears. Better luck next time.
Team :-
Andy Aldington, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles ‘o’ Toole

LEAGUE STAR SHINES BRIGHTLY FOR FUGIES! (Tues 27th Nov)

Despite the Fugies being without two of the Wentloog and District Leagues best players, Sandy Aldington and ‘Dangerous’ Lawrence Stallard for a second week running, they comfortably ran out winners 5 – 2 at The Friendly Fox last night. Miles ’o’ Toole, who was in spectacular form, won both his singles match, and pairs match with ‘One Dart’ Moses. Indeed he is now the only unbeaten player in the league, having won all 21 games that he has played in. “I couldn’t have done it without the support of the Captain and the rest of the team.” he said after the match. A current league table is not available at present, but the Fugies are certainly on top, with what would seem to be an unassailable lead. ‘Pert’ Pat Cox looked extremely fetching in a little beige number. Well done Pat, we do so look forward to our Tuesday nights!
Team :-
Pat Cox, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles ‘o’ Toole

NARROW DEFEAT FOR FUGIES! (Tues 21ST. Nov)

The Fugies, who were at home last night to the Alcan B team, suffered only their second defeat of the season, by the closest of scores. It was a creditable result as the team were without two of the Wentloog and District Leagues biggest stars, Sandy Aldington and ‘Dangerous’ Lawrence Stallard. This result will not affect their current position at the top of the league. Miles ’o’ Toole won his singles game again this week, but Fugies MOTM was undoubtedly ‘Flight Lieutenant’ Paul Conlon, an occasional player, with a regular double out. ‘Pert’ Pat Cox said later, “He was wonderful, just imagine what he could do if he really thrust himself into it.” Exactly Pat, just imagine.
Team :-
Pat Cox, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Paul Conlon, Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles ‘o’ Toole

ALCAN WHITEWASHED! (Tues 14th. Nov)

The Fugies handed a dart’s lesson to the Alcan ‘C’ team last night. At home again at ‘Fortress Fugies’, the confidence of the players was in evidence, with an inevitable feel about the result right from the outset of the 4 a side opener. The Fugies now appear to have a stranglehold on the Wentloog and District League, having lost only one match by the narrowest of margins in their first seven starts. Although all of the players did their jobs admirably, Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses stood out, living up to his name with a double 9 to win his singles match 2 – 0. The team are home again next Tuesday, so why not come along, give them your support and into the bargain have a bit of ‘Tasty Tuesday’!
Team :-
Pat Cox, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Lawrence Stallard, Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles ‘o’ Toole
Sandy Aldington

BACK TO BACK WINS (Tues 7th. Nov.)

After last week’s home win, the Fugies made it two in a row in a close fought match at The Tradesman’s Arms, Machen. Winning the four aside gave them a good start, lthough Miles’o’Toole was the only player to win one of the single’s games to clinch the match. Player of the night was again ‘Dangerous’ Stallard, who produced a fine out shot of 111. After the match ‘Pert’ Pat Cox said “It’s wonderful to be on top, I’d like to stay there right ‘til the finish”. Our sentiments exactly, Pat. With two home games coming up, let’s hope that the team are in readiness to consolidate their grasp of the league title.

BACK ON TRACK (31st October)

The Fugies returned to their winning ways last night Tues 31st Oct., at home to the Handpost ‘B’ team. After giving the hapless visitors a 6 – 1 thrashing, ‘Beautiful’ Beryl (Captain) said that after a stiff talking to, the team had responded well, and overcome last week’s one match loss of form. The four aside were first up to the oche, with ‘Dangerous’ Stallard delivering the winning dart with a double 8. The four aside squad also included Jim ‘The Joker’ Horner, ‘Beautiful’ Beryl and ‘Dazzling’ Darryl Horner. I must say, I had never noticed how similar he looks to his brother, Shane.
The first pair were ‘One Dart’ Moses and ‘Dangerous’ Stallard, who finished off with a double 4.
The second pair were in the shape of Miles’o’Toole (no he hasn’t) and ‘Slippery’ Sandy who went out with a double 10 to win.
‘Slippery’ Sandy stayed on the mat for the first singles game. Again he finished off with his trademark double 10, to give the Fugies a 4 – 0 lead.
The only Fugies loser of the night was ‘One Dart’ Moses. How unlucky was he to bust when on a 122 finish to win the last leg of his game. Must try harder!
Miles easily took the next game, to make the score 5 – 1.
Man of the match, ‘Dangerous’ Stallard, completed the rout and took the last game, in which he shot a 180, which leaves the Fugies well out in front of the Wentloog League, after only 5 matches.
Thanks also go to Darryl ‘Ramsey’ Horner for his cordon bleu sausage and chips, and to Roy ‘Scrape it on. Scrape it off’ John, for the savings he made with the butter.

Team:-
Darryl Horner, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Lawrence Stallard, Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles ‘o’ Toole
Sandy Aldington

DOWN TO THE WIRE! (24th October 2006)

The Fugies Darts Team were beaten for the first time last night by the Friendly Fox. In a thriller on home territory that went to the last leg of the last match, Sandy Aldington was beaten by Mike ‘Danish’ Bayton, to lose the match by the narrowest of margins 4-3. Although disappointed, the captain Beryl Horner, agreed that it had been a good contest, fought keenly but in the right spirit. A special mention goes to the Fugitive, Chris Bevan, who played really well for the Friendly Fox! Well, would you believe it.

Team:-
Pat Cox, Jim Horner, Beryl Horner (Captain), Paul Conlon, Lawrence Stallard, Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses, Miles O’Toole, Sandy Aldington
Next Tuesdays match is also at home, and starts at 8pm.

FUGITIVES ON TOP (17th October 2006)

The Fugitives darts team returned triumphant once again, from their away match on Tuesday evening After dealing a crushing blow to the Alcan B team, they now head the Rogerstone and District league. The Fugies, now unbeaten after their first three matches, easily claimed the match 7 – 0, and now look forward to two home games, on the next two successive Tuesday nights.

Their captain, Beryl Horner said that the team had played really well, and only Jim, her husband, had dropped a leg (no jokes please!).

The team consisted of (no particular order) :-
Beryl Horner – Captain, Miles O’Toole, Jim Horner, Pat Cox (yes glamour amongst the brains and brawn)
Laurence Stallard, Terry ‘One Dart’ Moses
