Famous Fugitives

Name: Andrew Adams

Adzy asking questions of Will Jack at Chepstow (2005)

Role in Team: 1st Team Wicketkeeper
Known as: Adzy
Date of Birth: Younger than Bev and Dirty Durston, but a tadge older than my brother.
Birthplace: Swansea
Senior Fugitives debut: 1984
Best Performance for club: Not sure the records go back that far!
Favourite Moment in Fugitive career: It has to be August 1997 – that championship winning match against Bridgend; nothing can compete with that. Although, there was THAT catch (Home v’s Radyr 2004)
Captain / Officer Positions (& Year) 1st XI Captain 1997 / 1998
Other Cricket Teams played for: Whiteheads, Rogerstone (sorry Jonners only on a Sunday, it was years ago when they were short - honest!)
Cricketing claim-to-fame: First to smash the new clubhouse window with a monster six (cow corner) and upset the club steward! (Home v’s Miskin Manor 2004). Keeping wicket to ‘the legend’ – Mr BMS Price for almost 20 years and still not recognising the quicker ball….. always a pleasure, never a chore.
Favourite other sports: Road running and more recently cycle time trials
Song to walk on to: Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run
Often quoted as saying: Malcolm Price was a top MCC coach – he spent a lot of time with my brother and me. He always said that Fred had all the ability and no enthusiasm – I had all the enthusiasm and no ability!.... This is no dress rehearsal – let’s cram it in
