Welland Childcare is a professional child care organisation, situated in Westhoughton, near Bolton in Greater Manchester (5 minutes from junction 5 of M61), UK.

Being a Registered Childminder means that I am able to care for children age 0 -12 years in a secure, loving, home like environment.  I am registered with OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education) and have been inspected by them in December 03.   I have had police and medical checks and I also have public liability insurance.  As a member of the N.C.M.A. and a qualified childcare provider I am dedicated to the care and well-being of children.  The safety of the child is paramount.

My name is Rosanne Podmore  and I have been childminding since September 1996, getting registered with Bolton MBC in January of 1997 and I am currently registered with OFSTED, having passed my inspection with the inspector saying that my collection of equal opportunity/anti discrimination equipment is outstanding.  I have cared for quite a few children over the years of varying ages, all of them having different needs and requirements.  I am a professionally qualified registered childminder.  This means that I have a NVQ3 certificate in Early Years Care and Education, which is equivalent to the old NNEB and I also have a Higher National Certificate in Early Childhood Studies and am currently part way through the third year of a BA Hons Degree in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Bolton.

I am  a qualified further and adult education lecturer and I am currently delivering part of the childminder training for prospective childminders in Bolton and have also delivered training for Birth to Three Matters and other courses for childcare professionals in Bolton.  In addition to this I undertaken a kite marked investors in children award called Quality First for which I gained the highest possible award ~ level 3.   Just to fill what bit of spare time I have left I also work as a support childminder for newly registered childminders in the Bolton area.

I hold a current paediatric first aid certificate and have qualifications in child development, child protection, multi-cultural awareness etc.  I have experience in all areas of learning and development including babies and young children and have completed training on Birth to Three Matters which is the framework that I use for young children in my care.  I am not a pre-school, although I do offer early years curriculum activities for children.  I also hold NCMA Public Liability Insurance.

 I have also completed courses/workshops in : -

  • Initial Teacher Training and Learning Certificate

  • First Aid (Hold a current certificate)

  • Fire Safety

  • Special Needs and Disability Awareness

  • Crafts in the Home

  • Further Child Concern Awareness

  • Many other childminding/childcare related courses

I also have six GMOCF level 3 credits in Psychology, including Child Development, a Level 2 credit in Introductory Childcare and Crèche work and I hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

I have 3 children of my own on the premises before and after school and during holiday periods.  18, 14 and 11 year old boys and I am registered to care for 3 children, at any one time, under the age of eight years, but my numbers are occasionally made up with children over eight years old.

We also take all morning children to Eatock childminding group once a week. Thus allowing for social interaction with larger groups of children.

We do not normally provide sick childcare, but in the case of mild illnesses, I am normally happy to accommodate provided the child is not too ill and can join in normal everyday activities.  Please contact me beforehand to check.

We include visits to local parks and recreation areas, visits to shops and other places of interest.  Occasionally we make trips to the airport, The Science and Industry Museum, Gulliver’s World etc.  (This depends on the age of the children and the hours that I care for them).  We also visit other childminders again to allow for children’s interaction with other children.

Occasionally it will be necessary to charge a small fee for trips further afield.  You would be notified beforehand and given the choice of whether you wished your child to participate or not.

One main meal is provided as well as snacks in the fee.  Other meals can be provided for a small nominal fee.  All meals are based on the Governments Balance of Good Health and I aim to serve at least five portions of fruit and vegetables over the day.

If you are interested in a vacancy for your child please email me with your details and requirements.
