Homework Spring Term 2005
Year 9
Music

Although formal written homeworks are not normally set on a weekly basis, music students are set homeworks according to the needs of the class and at the discretion of their teacher.

Homeworks, when set, are based on the interrelated skills of performing, listening and appraising. They include the following:
Work on pastiche and free compositions
Notation exercises (both conventional/staff and graphic)
ICT Information Investigations and Retrieval, using the appropriate CD Roms and websites
Revision of work covered
Research into work to be covered
Work supporting the college’s KS3 Literacy Strategy. This includes using subject specific terminology in both simple and complex sentences structures, defining their subjects and objects in sentences when writing reviews and commentaries, spellings and their contextual use, and the basic points of grammar.
Revision papers will also be made available for students during the Summer Term to prepare them for the end of year music exam.
