 Year 11 GCSE Physical Education

  

Completing and submitting six week training programme coursework by October half term.

In the Autumn term we will be covering Section C of the syllabus ‘Sport and Society’, including local and national issues such as sponsorship and the media, as well as factors affecting participation in sport such as social groupings and attitudes to sport.

Throughout Year 11, Observation, Analysing and Improving course tasks will be set for every activity studied and rules tests.

There is an expected requirement that students will improve their practical performance by attendance at extra-curricular clubs.

Homework will be set each week, depending on the content of the lesson. The range of tasks to be completed could include:

A General question sheet examining sponsorship.
B Exam-style questions looking in more depth at sponsorship and its effects.
C Research tasks aimed at using the library and ICT to gather information on sponsorship.
D Media research on a contemporary sporting issue.
E Comparing newspapers’ - analysing and comparing activity.
F Violence in Sport’ questions and comprehension task.
G ‘Amateur and Professionalism’ information revision sheet and questions.
H ‘Organisation of sport’ table.
I Research task based on sports facility provision.
J Sports club organisation’ scenario.
K Revision and exam-style questions based on ‘Local and national issues in sport’.
L ‘Olympic Games’ information sheet revision exercise.
M A Brief History of Sport’ timeline.
N Revision questions and tasks covering all theory related topics.
O A Saturday morning revision session will run two weeks before the exam.
