| In
Years 10 and 11 Music students follow the AQA GCSE Music course. Although
formal written homeworks are not normally set on a weekly basis, music
students are expected to complete the following:- |
|
One
hour per week instrumental practise (combined) on their solo and ensemble
study instrument(s). This is essential preparation for the performing
paper.
One hour per week composing and refining compositions. It is expected
that at the end of both Year 10 and 11 students have a portfolio of
compositions from which the best two or three may be put forward for
assessment.
Thirty minutes per week revising material contained within the “Music
GCSE Complete Course Booklet”. This is essential for Paper 3, and
for general musical knowledge throughout the course. |
|
Students will be given a formal assessment once every three weeks,
with questions being both made up by the Head of Department and taken
from past papers. Students will be told what to revise one week before
the assessment. |
