Unit 3 Personal Choice
A A creative title page introducing your personal choice
B Artists – research in sketchbook. At least two double pages on two separate artists
C An observational study using shade and tone of a subject related to your personal choice unit
D An observational study using colour and tonal values of a subject related to your personal choice unit
E A series of experimentation using different media related to your personal choice unit
F Using the computer, produce a piece of work related to your personal choice unit
G

Produce a contemporary art piece, inspired by a contemporary artist or exhibition that you have recently visited

Year 11 Homework will be taken from the following list. Students may make studies of either the whole or only part of the subject. Small details may be enlarged and aids such as a magnifying glass may be used. Any 2D media may be used:
A A pair of walking boots, wellington boots or old sandals
B One or more fir cones
C A wind instrument with keys e.g. a flute, clarinet or saxophone
D A group of at least three bottles or drinks cans
E An orange or apple, plus a section
F A pair of spiked running shoes or football boots
G A close view of a large flower head
H A packet of cereals, partly opened, showing some of the contents spilling out into a bowl
I A pineapple
J A selection of at least four objects used when cleaning e.g. dishcloth, mop, broom, bottle of cream cleanser etc
K A leafy cabbage or lettuce
L The inside workings of a watch or clock
M A whole pepper plus a section
N Four or five links in a metal chain
O A human skull

A Draw a bottle, remembering to use tonal variation
B Draw the interior of an enlarged flower
C Create a textile print for a new item of clothing
D Research information on a contemporary artist
E Research information on one of the ‘great masters’
F Create a collage of pictures/photos/drawings/ideas/information that inspires you
G Draw a tree from life
H Create an optical illusion
I Research information on an expressionist artist
J Create an abstract artwork with the title of Space (A2)
K Create six separate blocks of texture
L Design a postcard for a music concert/play/fashion show or art exhibition
M Create a controversial poster, relating to issues that you feel strongly about
N Design a sculpture or ceramic piece
O Research information on one culture
P Take a series of creative/personally inspired photographs
Q Create a sketch based on ‘Growth and Decay’
R Look at the work of Chuck Close and create a self-portrait using the same techniques
Students should complete coursework on an ongoing basis throughout the year. It is very important to the development of your portfolio that this is adhered to.
