Dear Parent
Our Year 9 students will soon be given a copy of the Year 10-11 Courses Booklet 2005 to 2007 and a copy of the Options Form.  The two year courses, which will begin in September 2005, will be assessed in Summer 2007, chiefly by means of GCSE examinations at the end of Key Stage 4.

We are holding the Year 9 Parents and Courses Information Evening on Thursday, 10 February 2005 between 4.00pm and 7.00pm.  The purpose of the evening is twofold: firstly, to discuss with subject teachers the progress of your son/daughter and, secondly, to discover more about the courses available.  Your son/daughter should make appointments, as usual, on the enclosed sheet.  At 5.40pm I will speak formally to all parents about Year 10 and 11 courses and Mrs. Webster-Bunn will outline the help you can provide while your son/daughter is studying for GCSE examinations.  This will take place in the Lower School Hall.

Ms Carolyn Jeffries, Connexions Personal Adviser, will also be present on this occasion and will be pleased to meet and talk with parents.

As a result of these consultations, and after discussion with your son/daughter, we would ask you to return the completed Options Form as soon as possible, and by Tuesday, 22 February at the latest.  We will then look at options for the whole year group and it may be the case that we need to discuss choices further to ensure the best fit.

Final option choices will be confirmed at the end of the year.
