Geography GCSE Coursework - worth 25% of final grade

20th September 2004

Dear Parent

In class, year 11 students are beginning their geography coursework into the efficiency of coastal protection at Barton-on-Sea.

Students have until Friday 15th October 2004 to complete and hand in this piece of work. At this stage their teacher will review their work and hand it back with further advice for improvements. They will then have two weeks in which to complete the coursework, the final deadline being 12th November 2004. Your son/daughter will be given all the help they need in class, but in order to manage the pressures of coursework in other subjects next year, it is vital that they complete the work by the final deadline.

Each student has been given a clear instruction booklet explaining exactly what is required of them and how to achieve a high grade. A good coursework mark can raise your son/ daughter’s final result by a whole grade e.g. D - C, C - B etc.

Any support which you can provide in enabling your son/daughter to produce quality work, and to meet the deadlines will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Yours sincerely
