STUDENT RESOURCES
GNVQ ICT COURSE Year Planner

Dear Parents
As you are aware, your son/daughter has opted for a GNVQ Intermediate course at the school. Below is a calendar showing the submission dates for all assignments required for the successful completion of the GNVQ qualification. GNVQ courses place far greater demands on students than GCSEs, particularly with regard to time management skills. It is, therefore, beneficial for students to be aware of the amount of time they have available to complete each assignment.

The nature of GNVQ courses necessitates that deadlines are strictly adhered to and students failing to hand work in by the submission dates will not have the opportunity to improve their work before final marking takes place. As this work has to be verified as being the student’s own work it is not possible for students to do large amounts of this work at home. We have a considerable amount of work to complete in Year 11 and it is very important that students are prepared to spend time on assignments outside of the timetabled lessons. This is in addition to the homework that will be set for the exam elements of the course. Any student who falls behind with their work, for whatever reason, will be expected to catch up in their own time. Failure to hand in an assignment on the due date will mean that they will be marked on what is available in their folder on that date. Obviously this will seriously affect the final mark awarded to the student and could result in an unclassified grade at the end of the course. Students who wish to have additional access to the school network can arrange this with their teacher.

Should you have any questions about the information contained within the calendar or in this letter please do not hesitate to contact me, or a member of the GNVQ team at the school. We wish your son/daughter every success on the course and thank you in advance for your continued support.
