.....successful classroom discussion and debate

James Honeybone, who taught here for 21 years, developed and now markets a weekly discussion and debate sheet for use in secondary schools (a Key Stage Two edition is currently undergoing trials).

Each week, a score or so of facts about a current controversial issue are explained and half a dozen questions for discussion and debate suggested.

It is a subscription service which delivers 40 weekly sheets per year for a fee of £100.00.

The A4 sheets – called Contemporary History Weekly and known popularly as CHs – are photocopiable in the subscribing institution and are delivered by e-mail every Friday afternoon during term time.
A Teachers’ Guide on how to run successful discussions and debates with classes of 30 is available.

To find out about CH Weekly, go to www.chweekly.co.uk. The site has an example of a CH sheet and an enquiry form for interested teachers to complete. The first four sheets are free to enquirers.
