Infamous individuals

Here follows a list of individuals who’s fame has spread far enough around that you might have heard of them. This list may well get bigger as the game goes on….

 INVESTIGATOR BLACK

The Pax Humanis servant who made the call on ‘the Hominid problem’, with specific relation to Trinity. Maximilian Black was the man who called in the 7th legion to force trinity to accept the SDA, and was instrumental in the tactics used to put down the uprising. Black is feared and despised across all of non pax space. His distain for aliens is legendary. There are rumours he was involved in the 'ultimatum’ to the Tyrie, and the grisly ‘example’ that was made of three of their number.

THADIUS TRENT

Owner of Trent Systems manufacturing, and one of the universes success stories. Thadius made his cash as a free-lance trader and cargo runner, before investing in the fledgling engineering company. Now a wealthy man, it’s said he still flies the occasional cargo run himself.

YAROTH & MURPHY

Dex Yaroth and Xander Murphy are a pair of ‘free-traders’, specialising in out of the way deliveries of dubious legality. Yaroth is a compulsive Gambler, Murphy a compulsive womaniser. They run a single ship transport, called the Dead Mans hand, reputedly accompanied by a male fayal and a female android. They wouldn’t be in the listings at all, but they represent the only ship to break the Pax Humanis blockade of Shodan V during hostilities there, bringing medical supplies and weapons. Rumour has it Pax hired the fee trackers guild to teach the pair a lesson. Rumour has it they are still on the run

JOHN MILTON TANNER

Many doubt he ever existed, even on the frontiers of Hominid society where older Law men still talk of him in hushed tones. Some say he was the offspring of a pair of convicts on one of the Cage planets, and was released when it was realised he had committed no crime. Others swear he was the son of the devil. Regardless of his origins, for over 30 years, he was a figure or myth clear across Hominid space. A man with a love of strong drink and the darker side of life, given to epic bouts of drinking, killing and theft. Entire settlement towns lived in fear of him and the various gangs he ran with. Over 40 systems had some kind of bounty marker laid down for the delivery of John Milton Tanner, sometimes in shackles, but many were prepared to pay for the satisfaction of his death. Members of the FTG pursued him exclusively, seeking to claim some of the large sums offered. None returned successful, many never returned.

He died around 50 years ago, somewhere around the Rioch frontier system, at least, that was the last report of his whereabouts. Some say he must be dead, that a man so evil could never have gone to ground for so long. Others say he can’t be dead, as no body was ever found, and someone would have claimed the bounty on the corpse.

Regardless, the FTG still holds a bounty escrow on the delivery of John Milton Tanner rumoured to be in excess of a Million Taylons.

ABSOLOM

Another Legend. However, this one is very definitely real. The most dangerous, infamous and richest member of the FTG, with over 300 successful hunts in the last 8 Cycles. Absolom is a Galtor, but bears little in resemblance to those cheerful and companionable giants. Absolom is exceptionally well armed, possessed of a nasty cunning and cold temper, and rumour has it, no morals whatsoever. Many have said he resembles a Kalish in his love for the hunt,  but where a Kalish would perform a quick and quiet removal, Absolom is happy to destroy anyone in the way to his target.

One to avoid.

Ophelia Mai-Nephir T’ami

The stunning Fayal companion implicated and (very) exposed by the ‘maybe’ groups sale of vid-slivers of her exploits with Varan Son Goku, head of  Bn’songats2x6 R&D.  Son Goku got fired, Ophelia became an intergalactic celebrity. Constantly requested on Tri-d shows for interviews, offered film parts, and many, many offers to repeat the performance with another leading man led to her being requested to leave the Companions guild, for ‘conduct unbecoming’, as she sought to make use of her fame. Ophelia is still hot property, her expulsion from the guild not having made a dent in her earnings one iota.

Adam Gabriel

Youngest son of Joshua Gabriel, the current War-leader of Pax Humanis. Adam’s brothers ,Magnus and  Xavier, a commissar and a fleet Kommander respectively, have both altered their names, reasoning that having such a famous surname may well skew their promotion chances and put them at risk. Adam, rather famously, has refused to ‘deny his glorious heritage’ whilst he works his way through the ranks of the Pax military in the normal way. Tri-d shows have broadcast footage of him in battle, and the units he is station with (which change regularly) often come under terrorist or enemy fire, as various factions seek to capture or kill the war-leaders son.

Gavriel Eisenstein

“The Butcher of the Stano Nebula”. The most vicious and evil pirate to ever raid across the void. Eisenstien raided any vessel that might have contained saleable cargo, from Voight super-freighters to Pax cargo transports. He always butchered the crew, leaving no survivors to bear witness to his terrible actions. Stories of his excess, his mistreatment of ships crews unfortunate enough to be boarded by his band of cut-throats and his utter lack or remorse abounded. Eventually, after his horrific abuse and murder of Duchess Mila Magiat had become public knowledge, and his subsequent destruction of a DIVASHA’PAL’OU peace seeker vessel for what amounted to loose change , Pax acted, and in a destructive and costly fire-fight, wiped out his fleet and atomised Eisenstien aboard his flagship. Tales of the massive hoard of booty Eisenstien buried somewhere still attract dozens of treasure-seekers, hoping to benefit from the brutal pirate’s demise…
