Distant Vista News
29/06/2011 - Site at Holmbury in surrey now booked , although for the weekend 25th -27th November (hope you can still make it) Booking is open again, £20.00 deposit will secure a place, and we need to start booking up ASAP, as if we don't get enough to cover the site we'll have to cancel. The cost of the event may have to increase due toi increased site costs, but more info will be forthcoming. 26/06/2011 - 2 potential sites have been viewed - unfortunately, Eastbourne, which is available tor the specified dates, is just too small to be suitable -am checking out the availability of Holmbury, which according to the awesome Mr Jones is a better bet. Sadly, this may mean 2 things - a change of date to slightly later in November or even early December, and a possible price rise on the event, as the site is more expensive. I'll keep everyone aware as I get more information. 07/06/2011 - Lots of lovely people have sent me details on possible sites, and I've earmarked a few likely candidates. Cheers to everyone who has been so supportive. Here's hoping!. 05/06/2011 - Bad news about the Wilderness Center - the sale has been confirmed and we've had definite notification that pre-bookings are not going to be allowed to use the site. Sadly, this means the event is now homeless and I'm looking for alternate venues. I'm intending that the game still run on the allotted dates, although this is, of course very dependent on finding an alternate location that's available for the same dates....And no lottery win for me so far, so I can't just buy the center...damn What is Distant Vista?Distant Vista is a new Sci-Fi Live role-playing Game by Angry Moose Productions, run under the auspices of TTSNB. It is set in a vast universe, filled with aliens, strange worlds and odd phenomena. It is a universe that has seen the Human race made homeless and split into 2 species. A place where lasers and disruptors are used on the same battlefields as cartridge pistols and swords. Where a vast network of trade lanes and safely charted space is still dwarfed by the unmapped blackness of lost-space. Where the actions of an individual are both insignificant and of the greatest importance. It’s all a question of scale. DV is set in what I call ‘Low-key space opera.’ (Sometimes called ‘low budget space opera). Star Wars is space opera – the heroes, seemingly on their own, save the universe with a combination of ‘crackerjack timing’ and snappy banter. DV is more like Farscape and Firefly, in which the heroes(ish) still have cracker jack timing and even snappier banter, but normally save their own asses, and maybe make a little money into the bargain. That’s pretty much what DV is going to be like (hopefully). There’ll be plenty of scope for heroics, just don’t expect to save the universe on your lunch break…. DV will be set on both spacecraft and planets, and has 15 races available for play, as well as rules for making up your own races. The tech levels range from blunt sticks to laser pistols and disintegrators. The combat/skills rules have been designed for speed and ‘cinematic’ heroics, and lack of ref involvement. There will be space for most types of character concepts, bounty hunters, engineers, entertainers, mercs, pirates, Hopefully, the whole thing will be fun, and be ‘intense’ without being stressful. It’s an infinite universe, so pretty much anything could be out there. With the exception of the ten commandments mentioned below in the ‘What to be’ do’s and don’ts. A final point is that Distant Vista is an adult themed game. I will be trying to scare people and some of the occurrences and ideas expressed within the game and it’s events will be of a nature that some people may find offensive. If you think this might exclude you from the game, read on, and if you hate what you read, please re-think your attendance. Actually, that goes for everyone…
How to use this Site. This site is intended as both a portal to creating a character and understanding the background of the Distant Vista game, and as a resource for existing players.
